They're great for damn near everything. I used a little one to replace a broken eyelet on a fishing rod in the field several years ago and the little thing is still on there, and still works just fine.

I can't wait until I'm this old survival bushcraft guru and have nothing to do but spend the rest of my days out in the woods building amazing shelters with zipties and sleeping on sacks. (No offense, I'm actually serious!) Thumbs up dude!

I think the lesson here to make this shelter is to always carry a saw blade, a big axe and lots of zip ties. The zip ties are a good idea when pre planned but not practical, most people don't carry a bag of zip ties around with them. But now after seeing this I will add zip ties to the rest of my survival gear I have stored away in my vehicle just in case SHTF as being predicted all over the net, it's one item I haven't thought about.

boy scout way is to put a blanket under the two sticks and fold them over the top (folded in thirds) the body weight keeps the blanket from coming undone. works for a casualty stretcher as well. tarps work as well

ingenuity, right there. but I'm a bit skeptical about the zip ties. In freezing conditions, would they become brittle and break, there by, having the shelter break down or apart and like anything else out in the wild, one would need to be vigilant on his construction engineering.

"ingenuity, right there. but I'm a bit skeptical about the zip ties". Sir. This was my opening statement, ment with complete sincerity. My only concern was with the zip ties, and how long they would last. Seeing that you've been offended with my concerns, have your Zip Ties lasted over the entire decade of your Shelter that you built and shown on KZbin.

@antoad1 hessian sacks are often treated with kerosene (and even DDT), you can dig them up after 50 years and will still not be rotten, though in the case of DDT, they'll be toxic forever.
@thegrinninfin14 жыл бұрын
@theswimer419 - Use a knife to and push the latch up. It is a pain in the ass, but they're reusable. Don't crank down on them, and it's easier to undo then as the latch doesn't dig in as much. It doesn't work for the metal latch kind, as they're specifically to dig into the plastic. If you do want to reuse them, you can always cut them off and use them on something smaller.

@butterlord3389 жыл бұрын
+PabloAlonzo48 You can find them super cheap through this link: www.commercialsupplyhq.com/m7/BB3648--36-x-48-burlap-bag.html The burlap sack he used in this video is very narrow and only suitable for someone of a slender build, if you're a bigger guy or you just prefer a wider bed I would recommend the one in this link. However, the website offers hundreds of different sizes at extremely low prices (just a few dollars)

@agil24 read up on BUSHCRAFT. And he is only using dead wood to build with You need to think and read up before you type out your rants. By removing and using the dead standing wood it reduces the risk and chance of forest fires, and by not bringing in a tent and a lot of other useless crap you leave a much smaller footprint, use what is there around you try it who know you may like it.
