Winnerwell has truly 'upped its game' with this portable camp range! The steel insert is a big part of the deal and should NOT BE OVERLOOKED! As a serious home cook with high-tech equipment, I can attest that a steel sheet, used as a heat sink, holds and evens out the heat. You CAN slow-cook. Baking goes better with this setup: flatbreads; scones; biscuits, and pot-pies.

That is a neat oven! Make some armadillo eggs! Get some fresh jalapenos, stuff with cheddar and cream cheese, encase the stuffed jalapeno in ground beef or a mixture of ground beef and pork sausage seasoned with cumin, oregano, chili pepper and cayenne and an egg for a binder. Bake until meat is cooked through, brush with bbq sauce, bake to cook glaze on and enjoy!

A good venison casserole would be good I think or maybe some sort of fish dish. As for a cooking work surface, something that you don't need to either bend over or squat down to use would be good, save your back, and easily portable/movable for storage when not in use, but with a sturdy base. Will you be building Amber her own bed as well? I know you always make sure she's warm and dry and you have blankets/sheepskins for her... Looks like you'll be doing some fantastic work and cooking there with Amber's help Dustin!

I like your explanation of the build. Your dog was trying so hard to get your attention.
@OffGridTraveler Жыл бұрын
I think you should build a building to store firewood in. On one of your weekends you should stock it up with split wood and logs that way if you arrive in the rain or it starts to rain or snow all you need to do is go to the building and get what you need instead of going out to collect and process.🤓

As always thank you... fascinating and educational. My roller pizza cutter blows... clearly, I need an axe. Since the oven is pretty low, what about baked chicken (halves?), mashed potatoes and (wild mushroom/onions) gravy? That seems like a challenge. Considering vikings... how about a dragon figurehead (or similar) for above the entrance?

Great video, I think tour partner rates the pizza a 10,. Just one thought here. that stove plus accessories is around $800 plus tax and S&H. That's a lot of coin for Pizza, not to mention, it's around , according to the website it's around 48 lbs. If we go camping, I call you carry the stove. LOL

THIN CRUST PIZZA: Right. That usually eludes me as well. The idea is to make an e-x-t-e-n-s-i-b-l-e dough. That means using less flour and adding a bit of olive oil to create a dough that is moist, without being sticky. Let it proof long enough to become stretchy by developing the gluten. You already know most of these principles and are demonstrating them but...well, I hope to help.

You've made a high hydration dough. The intense heat of the oven causes steam and makes the dough rise more. Plus you had a lot of yeast in the mix. Try a lot less water and you'll get a thinner dough. Don't be afraid to add veg or olive oil to the mix. It acts like ball bearings and helps the dough stretch to pizza shape more easily. Pizza dough likes a fast (high temperature) oven with intense heat. That's why you use the pizza stone. If you can control the oven temp to around 350 F. (176 C.) you could get a nice roast of meat and root veg. Cheers from Toronto, Canada

The best thing I've put on pizza short of fresh basil flowers is dried and ground up spicy peppers from my own garden. We got so many last year that we ground them up into mostly jalapeño powder (although other spicy peppers were also included) and it's the best thing I've ever had on my pizza, my baked potatoes, my Indian curries, you name it.

A few years ago (about three) I made a tarp for a longer-term shelter out of the size of the welding curtain I needed, which I backed with Reflectex. I have owned woodland but not in a climate where moss grew. I made my frame from PVC piping with adjustable joints and I glued key elements together. Yes...this only works for long-term permissions. The piping also fascinated my twin grandchildren, who made various structures and chutes out of the kit.

Please could you do something about how to survive in bear territory in the summer for enough days/nights to build longer term shelter for the winter? Imagine you’d turned up in your new remote land plot in the morning and needed to have a bear proof shelter by first night fall in June/July/August in Alaska/N. Canada or Siberia, for example.
