"The 90s were once in a Lifetime". They really were. So many great bands but not just that, brand new movements and genres being created. Truly creative artists breaking through and leaving a lasting legacy. IMO the 90's was the last great decade for music. There's been good music since then, but nothing of such cultural significance, or anything that's felt like such a leap forward or a defining sound(s) of a generation.

"The first time I felt this magical pull towards music was with this band called Bush, and they had this song called 'Swallowed,'" he said. "It was about a lot of things that I wasn't allowed to do - drugs and stuff that was on the other side of the tracks for me and where I grew up. I was listening to a lot of fakey, happy, life will get better, cheer up music and this just ripped the cover off that and really forced me to deal with my own life and what I wanted my life to look like. When I was in high school and this came out, I remember ragging on Bush hard. At the time, they seemed like phonies compared to the stalwarts of the Seattle sound. Like they were a prettier, safer version of Nirvana/Soundgarden/Pearl Jam, etc. I hated that I liked this song and video. In 2021, I give up. Even though it's a highly stylized version of the 90s, It's a good song and it takes me back to a time I miss and would give a lot to go back to. Fix mistakes. Live and love bigger and better. [Verse 1] Warm sun feed me up I'm leery loaded up Loathing for a change And I slip some, boil away [Chorus 1] Swallowed, followed Heavy about everything but my love Swallowed, sorrowed I'm with everyone and yet not I'm with everyone and yet not I'm with everyone and yet [Verse 2] Just wanna be myself Hey you said you would love to try some Hey you said you would love to die some In the middle of a world on a fish hook You're the wave, you're the wave, you're the wave [Chorus 2] Swallowed, borrowed Heavy about everything but my love Swallowed, hollowed Sharp about everyone but yourself Swallowed, oh no I'm with everyone and yet not I'm with everyone and yet not I'm with everyone and yet not I'm with everyone and yet [Verse 3] Piss on self-esteem Forward busted knee Sick head, blackened lungs And I'm a simple selfish son [Chorus 3] Swallowed, followed Heavy about everything but my love Swallowed, oh no I'm with everyone and yet not I'm with everyone and yet not I'm with everyone and yet not [Outro 1] Got to get away from here Got to get away from here Got to get away from here Got to get away from here [Outro 2] I miss the one that I love a lot I miss the one that I love a lot I miss the one that I love a lot

I was playing this song in my headphones a few days ago and I was walking minding my business when an older man asked if I was listening to bush mind you I’m only 20 and he told me I had a great taste in music and that I should play it out loud for the next block we were walking down together, you would think it would be awkward but we sang this song together and I will forever love that recent but special memory

I grew up on this kind of music mind you I’m half black so to see a man of his age give a real compliment instead of a backhanded one was nice🥲❤️

I show my kids the music I listened to like this when I was their age hoping they would connect to it the way I did, it played a huge part of my life, especially through my turbulent teen years. It was my therapy ❤

One of the other songs in 1998/9 just before my eye was busted while I was trying to escape the Philippines before it was too late but it was too late. But for me it was “Swallowed, hollowed (out)” (not “Swallowed, followed”) “Just want to be myself…Got to get away from here…”

i like the music. I am a fan of grunge music. It is like swallowing a well-cooked hot dog and a well-cooked tasty cheeseburger and drinking a nice cold Budweiser beer. The music is much better than jazz, hip-hop, reggae, and musica urbana.

I saw you play Woodstock '99. Sixteen Stone and Razorblade Suitcase are synonymous with High School for me. This song, among others takes me right back. One time on a school trip, I borrowed a friend's discman and ran the batteries down listening to Glycerine over and over. Thank you.

This song has had such an impact on my life. So far I can't tell if it's been good or bad, but this song is such a work of art. And this band- one of the best to ever exist. They have such a raw sound and so much power. The lyrics have so much hidden meaning and honestly I just can't get enough of them.
