As a Salesforce business analyst any one wants to start a career.what they should do.
@guyturner18385 жыл бұрын
Really good advice. I have recently just broke into the role of a Business Systems Analyst with a local energy company. We are an Agile Scrum ran shop, but I don't know how to go about the elicitation techniques. As a contractor, they're expecting a lot out of me. :-( How can I gain the confidence of the team? Help!!
@karaleise4 жыл бұрын
Hi Guy, thanks for checking out my videos! I have done a video on elicitation techniques that you can use. Here it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5WrqZl9jZJ_iqM To gain the confidence of your team, first everyone knows you are new so they do not expect you to know everything up front! Next, leverage being new by using it to learn as much as you can about the business and industry. When you get your next project, start by talking to the people closest to the clients, try to find out what the clients use cases are and the jobs the clients are trying to do. Start the conversations by saying that although you are knowledgeable in business analysis you are starting from scratch in understanding how your company serves it's clients energy needs because you want to listen to the voice of the client and understand what their goals are instead of imposing your own assumptions on what they might need that way you can be sure that the solution develops meets their needs. State that you will be asking a lot of clarifying questions just to make sure you understand the client's world and that will help you to work through coming up with the best solution for them. And then start asking questions. What this does is set the expectation from whoever you are talking to and will lead to them having more confidence in you later on when you suggest ideas because you will be armed with the knowledge you got from the research and conversations you've had which will likely be more insightful than what others have assumed. In the mean time, I will be doing more videos on requirements elicitation so look out for more coming soon!!!

@karaleise5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashia! Thanks for checking out the videos. Seeking internship is an excellent way to break into the field. Thanks for sharing that! As for putting your case study on the resume, I answered this question a few comments below. Here is what I said: you can include the case study in its own section on your resume. For example, you can create a section called "Relevant Experience" and highlight the main parts of the case study there. The important thing is to NOT be misleading and not to attempt to suggest that this is actual work experience.

Hi there ma'am, so I'm currently pursing my bachelor degree in MIS(MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS) and minor in Healthcare informatics, do you think I would be able to get a business analyst job and if I would need to know specific coding for example SQL or Rstudio
@karaleise2 жыл бұрын
Hi Harpreet, thank you for watching the video and supporting my channel. No you do not need to knowing codng to be a Business Analyst. While knowing SQL particularly is very helpful for some BA roles that require you to manipulate data and build reports, it is not at all a must to get started in the career. I would suggest since you are already in school that you take advantage and learn these as it can be expensive to learn later and it is incredibly useful. Its good to know these for sure and you'd be at an advantage if you commit to learning them - but it does not preclude you from starting in this field at all . Hope that helps!

I will have an undergrad in something non-related but have over 10 years of sales experience. Do you think pursuing a masters in Business Analysis could help me be a competitive applicant?
@karaleise5 жыл бұрын
Having any business masters degree is great for getting a competitive advantage in the corporate job market. I don't think the masters has to be in business analysis but it doesn't hurt. Also know that the IIBA also has certification courses that can help get you the accreditation as a business analyst. For now though, employers are not asking for neither the IIBA cert nor a Business Analysis Master's Degree. Most employers just ask for a bachelors or masters in some business related field as their education requirement. So getting the masters in Business Analysis would be impressive but it is not a must. Hope that helps!

Thank you Bassam for checking out the video! Yes there is a big difference between business analysis and business analytics. This video focuses on business analysis. Business analysis is the title of the video and business analysis is what I talk about here as well.
