We have a empty corner lot next to us that kept having people show up. A few of us grouped and ran them off by a show of force. We open carried on the property banging on their RV doors and simply yelling at them to leave our area. Some were defient untill we had gravel brought in and trapped the R Vs with a foot of pea gravel. 2 days later all gone and we spread the gravel out and put signs on 4x4 s . Everybody worked together to stop it before it grew to a point of no return. Push back hard for your neighborhood

Back in the 60's, we used to have mental health facilities. Under-funding led to abuses (see "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest"). Then Calif. Gov. Ronald Reagan and legislature led the charge to close them down with the "promise" to build community level facilities to try to re-integrate, but there was no substantive funding. These people ended up in jails/prisons or unhoused. It's time that such facilities as well as involuntary commitment standards be re-established. It won't be inexpensive lest we repeat the past, but it won't be as expensive as prisons. There's a chance that as a medical facility they can receive appropriate treatment and some can be re-integrated.

I grew up in California. I moved out of California 20 years ago. At that time crime and traffic and the cost of living where out of control. Recently I drove back through southern California. I was shocked to see haw much worse it has become. I don't blame the homeless people living there. I blame the people directly responsible for this mess of a situation.
