As much as ppl think fashion and luxury are materialistic and superficial and just for short term happiness and reserved just for the ultra rich consumers and foolishly coerce average ppl to get them, it has brought me a lot of joy and amazing friendships. For a long time I didn't real feel appreciated for who I am and looked down by toxic people as well so I worked hard to get luxury goods to feel worthy. I learned to respect myself and portray and express myself from my clothes and accessories. Unexpectedly I made a few girlfriends and we bonded over luxury and fashion. They gave me the experience of a lifetime. One invited me a few times to her new luxury condo and cooked for me. And I am so touched because she came up to me knowing we got the same taste and she asked me to be her friend and needed advice coz its a lot of money. I watched her collection grow from me cheering her to take the leap . She surpassed me now with an amazing collection I am so proud of her lol! Another friend we we just shocked that we liked the same brand and we didn't know anybody else like us back then. Then I visited her hometown and she drove me around with her porshe for the next few days we went fancy shopping and eating. I was sooo happy. I had another friend of a friend for the past hidden years I had no clue she was into luxury goods and so we officially met for that and we went shopping to check out luxury goods and discussed about our love of taste and fashion over lunches. She invited me to VIP shopping experience as she became a regular customer now she got a decent collection. I made a lot of poor decisions when purchasing in the past because I got no reference no youtube that time, but I am happy to give them advice from my past mistakes. I think to be successful as a person is to be able to inspire others. Now they have a better collection than mine and I am so happy for them. Its not like I changed the world or something but if I inspired a few ppl I think that was awesome. I am so grateful to have them in my life and the luxurious experience they gave me in return. I needed that validation about myself and they gave it out of pure heart.

What I find amazing about this interview is that even as a mainstream publication dependent on diplomacy, Angelica is able to tell it like it is- how bureaucratic corruption gave a false sense of organic consumption in China and how the Chinese Millennials do not necessarily need to save or buy things with purpose due to their financial situation, which might be read as a criticism of Millennials, which probably form a huge part of her readership. Contrast this with any Western editor who only has praise for Millennials as ‘independent’ or ‘driven’, when they’re probably thinking what spoilt kids their fashionable readers are.

A part of what she said is absolutely inaccurate, I’m one of the Chinese youger generation and most of the people around me are still concered about earn and save money for properties. That takes the majority part of my generation...

Angelica is talking shit about the millennials in China having no pressure getting a stable job or mortgages! The News just said that now the average debt of 90s now here in China is almost $ 20,000 which is terrible! The millennials are suffering horrible financial problems in China!!!
