Yeah I feel like John's game is bugged. Not only judging by the weird black and white fog rain that plagued him the other day 😂 but also with small little details. Usually when you *greet* people they almost always say something back but what I notice with John's game was that they say one thing and just stares at him in silence after he greets them back 😂 I hope it sort itself out somehow because the NPC interaction is one of those little details that makes the game feels alive.

Some non-spoiler related items for you John, if you'd like them! 1. Remember the sheriff taking a bribe through the iron door in Valentine? Go back and circle around that building by looking through the window. You can get something amazing in there, wont say what, but I promise it's 100% worthwhile. Anytime when you get a robbery note, make sure to do some poking around the rewards for robbery tips are top tier (lots of money or possible new guns you haven't unlocked. 2. The identity system for crimes has a bit of a hard lock on how it works. Regardless if you have your bandana on the entire time, the lawmen will always find out it's you; however you can combat it a bit in some scenarios. I'm referring to what I stated in #1. There are ways you can do some unseemly things without every getting caught based on weaponry; but more so, 9/10 you'll usually get found out. 3. I'd sell mostly everything and/or donate it to the camp (referring to the meat you have). Meat is so common you can pretty much get it anywhere at anytime, so holding onto pieces of meat really doesn't do too much, and the positive of giving it to the camp will give you funds to buy upgrades for the camp (this one is more of a suggestion then anything, you don't have to, but its really up to you, just a suggestive perspective) 4. Add attachments to your guns, you can add things like scopes, railings inside the walls of your gun or iron sights to increase damage/accuracy. Furthermore, you can add a scope to your Springfield Rifle which makes it easier for tracking and studying wildlife. Slapping a scope on it, means you never need to use your binoculars unless prompted by the game to use them. 5. You mentioned you wanted a fast horse, you can get one on the current chapter your in which is at the top right of the map in the snowy region. It's right above Lake Isabella in that area (far northwest of the map near the edge of the map). Definitely worth going for as you'll get one of the best horses in the game right away at no cost to you. Again, all of this is subjective, and I hope it helps you enjoy your playthru of RDR2. Keep truckin, partner!🤠

That horse glitch did John dirty 💀. I’ve never seen that happen or the rain glitch, lol. All I can figure is having Arthur walk away (when Arthur walked towards Jack) it somehow despawned your horse resulting in that screen where the horse dies that only can happen during missions. I don’t know if that’s accurate, but in GTA 5, pilots will despawn sometimes from planes in the sky if your character gets out of range causing random planes to just crash. Or it could’ve just been a random glitch but that was crazy, lol. Still really enjoying the playthrough. I love all of the side missions. There’s so much always going on! You can buy food at the saloons in town too at the bars. If you want to go sit there and see the different dishes from each town.

To be fair it is a red dead redemption game. In both of them I have marked a quest on the map and then on my way wandered off from something catching my eye and then 2 hours later it's the "wait what was I doing again" moments which happen a lot for me in these large open world games, I have more fun in exploring the world than I do the story content and i love the story content in these games so that says a lot about how much love was put into rdr and rdr2

Hiya, John, sorry if my advice comes with hindsight, I know you're already further in the game than the video I am currently watching, so, I apologize if it's old news or someone else already explained these things earlier. The wanted system works like this: Crimes comitted without witnesses are fine, but if you linger too long, passing NPCs might come to investigate, signified by a white eye icon. In this state, you best move out of their line of sight, otherwise they'll pin the crime on you, signified by a red eye icon. White also means, eventhough the crime is noticed, you haven't been recognized as the perp. Red means you have been recognized OR you were linked to the crime due to being near the crime scene. When you have a bounty above 10 dollars, bounty hunters will start looking for you. You can still freely roam states you are wanted in, as long as bounty hunters aren"t on your track. You'll see a red indicator on your minimap when they are nearby, giving you ample time to move away or confront them. Setting up wilderness camps increases the chances of them them finding you (due to the smoke emitted by the bonfire). Towns in the state you are wanted in might go in lockdown, and might have patrolling lawmen (signified by red circled star icons on your minimap) it is in your best interest to avoid them. After escaping a search party of lawmen, they might still linger near where they last saw you. Bandanas are best worn during crimes and not after, since bandanas make NPCs and the law suspicious of you, even if you have no active bounties. Certain animal carcasses cannot be stowed. When they are too large to fit on the hindquarters of your mount, or when skinning already provides you with all the goods. i.e. moose, elk, larger bears (black, grizzly), aligators, boars, black bears, bison. It might also be good to know that smaller animal types are stored in your satchel and can be broken down to obtain certain parts: i.e. fish for their meat, squirrels and chipmunks for their pelt and tails, smaller bird-types for their feathers, american crows for meat and feathers. Also note that some craftables require you to either sell or donate an entire carcass, rather than just the pelt. So always double check before skinning an animal. Also IMPORTANT, when an animal (carcass) falls off your horse due to crashing, it can damage the pelt. (it hurts, trust you me, I know..) If you die or get killed with a stowed animal (carcass) it might despawn, also. - You also can actually manually aim in dead-eye, dead-eye aim snaps the second aim assist is enabled, but it is possible to cancel it when that happens. But yes, dead-eye requires a speedy, diciplined trigger finger (; Taking cover against objects is R1 or whatever key/button bind you have for it. RDR2 shares the stealth mechanics from GTA, when your player arrow is greyed out on the mini-map, it indicates you are hidden. Also, you can hold the button for the pause menu to instantly open the map, while the map is on-screen, you can open the legend with square or your button/keybind for it, and then scroll through to menu to instantly hover on the area where each icon is in. It is faster for waypoint marking, instead of having to manually search on the map itself. Don't know if you were already made aware, you can tame wild horses and either keep or sell them to your liking. There are a number of 'rare' coats that can be found in the wild that are known to sometimes bug out. If you decide to look for and break these horses, be sure to save your game beforehand, since there is a known bug where, for ex the white arabian can despawn once it flees. (you can also steal 2 arabians during missions, feel free to look up how, it is the white arabian, the black arabian and technically the brown bay turkoman. I'd recommend getting the turkoman since arthur cannot purchase or find it in the wild, unlike the white and black arabian) You can also steal rare horse coats from specific free-roam related event strangers if you desire. Also, when riding out with companions, you can hold down X to auto-match their speed, and hold down LT to focus on them to ride alongside them. Check on them regularly, there might be missable dialogue. Also, when at camp, keep a look-out for white icons on the mini-map. These are temporary companion missions, miss out on them and they are gone. This also applies to camp members asking you to fetch them specific items. You'll want to keep an eye on Charles (big burly dark-skinned man with the long black hair) He'll often teach you to craft various arrow- and knife types. Also important to know, if you spawn away from your horse, you can always go to any nearby stable and retrieve it there. Answering your question about the out of bounds: the map, though needlessly large as it is, actually expands quite a bit beyond the 'accesible boundaries'. It does end eventually, but there is plenty of land and terrain beyond those boundaries. But for the most part, RDR2's boundaries are well closed off with 'slidey physics', it's basically surrounded by terrain that pushes you away. But... it is fairly easy to get out of bounds, actually.

I've got some mechanical tips about horse riding that I meant to comment on the last video. I haven't started this one yet so apologies in advance if you've already figured them out! :) (Edited to remove ones you already know) 1. Petting her while galloping can restore some stamina, so along with the timed tapping with her stride, you can go at top speed for ages. 2. When you're trying to hitch to a post, if you get off before hitching successfully, you can lead the horse and then hitch it from there without having to get back on again. Regarding cores and circles - when cores are full, they slowly refill the circle around the outside, I believe. Same for your horse. :) Thank you so much again for these, as a shareholder I am loving it. :D

I dont know if you'll want to replace Victoria at all, or if you're as into picking the perfect breed and color of horse for your tastes as I am, but there are many great spoiler free guides on how to get certain types of horses. There are many missions where you will have access to rare horses that you could get (usually for free!) but not unless you knew how to acquire them beforehand. You may be approaching one such mission soon. I would definitely recommend the Rockworth youtube channel that has a playlist dedicated to all kinds of horses in RDR2 and how to acquire them. No horse is exactly "better" than the other, it's all about what you want in a horse to suit your playstyle as well as aesthetic wants. A faster and sleeker horse that turns on a dime, a brave horse that won't buck you off in the face of danger, an absolute tank that will walk off most injuries... The options are really wide and for me it's always a fun way to add character to your playthrough and I always get very attached to my horses and spoil them with a lot of love haha. I hope you continue to enjoy playing the game as much as I enjoy watching! Cheers!

(disclaimer: don't know if this is possible or if that's how any of it works, but that's all I could guess. Other than her just dying from a glitch lol.)

Something my girlfriend and I have been shouting at the TV for the past 6 episodes is “look at your mini map, dude!” So here’s my advice: Look at your mini map more often. Witnesses show up as white or red eyes. Random events blip white. Missions will have a cloud in the area the mission takes place. White markings do not advance the story but yellow ones do. All that said, we love you to death and can’t wait to see what you think of the rest of the game.

Just knowing they had the Arthur Morgan voice actor record a line talking to the kitty, just in case people like John feel obligated to interact with it is some next level immersion

Aww love when John's dad mode activates with the boy. And Arthur's enthusiasm was cute too.

It's easy to get 3 star pelts. Use the binoculars to observe a new animal, then you can observe them from a distance and see what star level they have. If one of them have 3 stars it will provide a 3 star pelt if you one shot them with the proper weapons for said game. It's as easy as that...

I didn't realize this on my first playthrough at all, the game doesn't tell it at any point I think. It definitely ups your hunting game! There's also a text in addition to stars if the animal is perfect quality. Tldr; You can't get perfect pelts from poor animals. Use aim, scope or binoculars to check the quality.

When I did the oil tanker mission, I went to that spot in Valentine at night and threw a throwing knife at the single guard. Stole the tanker and not a single person was alerted and it was the first time I successfully completed a mission without being caught or having to use violence. It’s so much fun doing those kinds of missions!

Love the Red Dead Videos! Seeing you play it is really interesting. I am so curious to see how you react to things that happen in the story later on. Lots of people already said it but taking a bath would be a good idea. I think its cool that you play the little side storys as well. Keep it up!

Yes John you can in-fact go anywhere you see just like in Elden Ring! most open world games do this, Elden Ring was considered unique because it was a first for a Souls style game as well as it making you go and find your own way in the world without any obvious objective. But games like RDR2 when they say open world they mean it, go everywhere!

I'm not sure I've seen the House/Stagecoach robbery in the day. I've always done it at night.

Hey John, I would say it’s very similar to ER actually, you can definitely explore those mountains and pretty much everywhere! 😁
