Some of you are watching this video for the first time or are revisiting after Brandon's untimely death. I would like to say that a respectful silence is what is needed now as the exact circumstances of his death are still not yet known. Everyone can have an opinion however very few people know the facts surrounding Brandon's mental health, his business dealings and his death. so please keep any mean, accusatory comments and thoughts to yourself. My heart goes out to everyone who loved and worked with Brandon. THANK YOU

I think what you've said is correct Nadine.. ❤️ I personally was very sad to hear of his death. Brandon got me into using skin care for the first time. As I honestly couldn't afford it. Cleanser and moisturiser were my staples.. He touched my heart, by introducing quality, affordable skin care.. Love you Nadine, you've taught me many good things ❤️

Cezzlina I never denigrated the man or his products - I simply stated that he had been incredibly rude to some people I know and to some of his followers and that, as a result some youtubers were not mentioning his products. I also added that I did not subscribe to that view and that I would carry on mentioning his products.
@marinaalex05105 жыл бұрын
@@NadineBaggott Nadine, in your video promoting "alternative" products which didn't come even close to The Ordinary ones, without even testing them thoroughly and properly you said (this is an actual copy-paste of the written introduction: "THE ORDINARY REVOLUTIONISED SKIN CARE but has massively fallen from favor because of social media controversy" and then it went " ...if you don't live in the beauty bubble", "... the whole brand has been left with the bad taste in its mouth..." and "there is a lot of pressure within the beauty industry to not mention any of Deciem products and even to blacklist people that mention them". Yes, you did say that it's not where you come from even though "I am not going to judge people for saving money on skincare" sounded patronizing, and "you know what? there are better alternatives" with no foundation that they were in fact better. So, yes - you didn't denigrate the products but did diminish them, and the whole company achievements. Yes, Brandon's behavior was problematic and while it is not appropriate to talk about it now, there is also no point. But then and now there was a place to make another point, that many people myself included have been rising in the comments repeatedly you've never responded to that, so - here it is (as it was) my point: Who are the parties that exerted that pressure? Those who do live in a beauty bubble? And pressure on whom? Blacklisting whom? Smaller influencers? Us commenting? Most of us, consumers don't live in the beauty bubble. We just want products that work at prices that don't include margins of blown up marketing. With active ingredients and without a long list of unnecessary fillers. Also by buying Deciem products consumers support all the people working for the company and doing their job well" For the record - I don't think that my comment is "mean"
@NadineBaggott5 жыл бұрын
Marina Alexander exactly my point which is why I never stopped mentioning the products despite any pressure to - and why I continue to recommend them today. All I offered was alternatives for those who had been offended (that did not include me but yes many, many customers and followers on social media and yes some people I know in the industry). I think I trod a very delicate line respectfully and carefully - now to be honest I have had enough of the untrue and often mean accusations from people not involved, who did not know Brandon or were not involved in the whole sad and tragic events of the past year.

The beauty industry is full of hypocrites. Brandon sadly didn't fit in. His background was computer science and he thought he could bring good skincare to the masses and be utterly transparent. That doesn't work in a billion dollar industry that's all about money. So sad for him and how judgemental people became towards him. He will always be remembered as a revolutionary in skincare though and people who turned away from him will be forgotten.

Thank You!!!!! This is a great interview! Brandon is so truthful and honest about the beauty industry. There were times in this interview I was saying "Yes! Exactly". The point he made about marketing and the hard sell was spot on; along with the point of knowing when and why to use SPF. I live in the UK where we get little to no sun. I am already vitamin D deficient so I don't wear SPF at all unless I'm going to visit a hot country and I've been using certain ingredients on my skin like a retinol. They've scared people into wearing ridiculously high SPF's when it's unnecessary.

Thank you so much Nadine and Brandon for this video, watching it for the 3rd time, so many eye opening points made. I just find it fascinating how Deciem are straight up telling us how the beauty industry works in terms of the mark up money spent on advertising and marketing, which ultimately we pay for. Brandon makes the point that at a low price point for The Ordinary products we all now have the ability to try products and formulations that may previously have been too expensive. Plus they're introducing us to ingredients I'd personally never heard of. Great point as well Nadine about the SPF rollercoaster. And finally it's hands in the air for EUK 134, oh my lord, thanks you so much Nadine for talking about this, it's the BEST product I've ever used (I'm 43, so that's a lot!). TheLoveWithYing ...I still did not get what the difference is between the deciem, Niod and the ordinary apart from the price point. Can you please clarify if you understand all this ? Thanks
@TheLoveWithYing7 жыл бұрын
Deciem is the company name which have more than 10 brands. To me, the Ordinary range is mainly single ingredient focused, is fitted for people is interested in see how a particular ingredient would work for them. NIOD range focused on general skincare health, how the ingredients inside would work together to help maintain skin health or build up better skin health long term. I only started with Deciem products 4 months ago when a physical store opened nearby. I have to say as a skincare nerd I still find everything confusing. So I started with the Ordinary with few of products with ingrediants that wew present in my past favorites skincare products, then everything else just flows from there. As I see results I just cannot help myself building my skincare regime using their products. I would also recommend to talk to their representative in physical store or just reach out to their instagram @deciemchatroom.

TheLoveWithYing ...thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I use tretinoin 0.05% once per week only as that’s all my skin can handle, then a few times per week I used Vit a by Osmosis. The serums I use are Vit c, coq10, matrixyl sinth 6 and ha by timeless. I use the glycolic Toner by ordinary which I alternate with avene gentle Toner depending on how my skin feels. Once per week I use Salicylic acid at night to clear my pores. I use cereve hydrating face wash and pm moisturiser both by cereve. I’m new to this game so pls if you can point out anything I’m doing wrong it would be a great help as I don’t want to be wasting money on my products if I’m using them wrongly and counteracting the use/benefit of them. I am from the uk and I have to order all of the above from USA as it’s not available here so it ends up costing me a lot in shipping, I’ve just now placed another order as I’m running out. I’m hoping, if possible then to exchange some of my existing products with niod products as it’s easily accessible for me and wont cost a ton in shipping and time it’s takes to arrive....but I have no idea where to start with niod! I am in Canada but Deciem website do ship to UK and shipping is quite reasonable (5/free with 25+ purchase), not sure about duties tho. What to buy really depends on your needs and whether you need it enough to make a purchase =D For real, it's not like we cannot live without them. I usually start with their products with higher customer rating, just to up my chance of success. Good luck!

What an amazing and inspiring human being. I find it very difficult to think that someone with so much to offer the world would end like this - as is being publicized in the media... it's simply inconceivable. I started researching DECIEM as a company extensively after my daughter brought home Deciem's AMAZING products - tried them... and I must say.. the results far out-weighed anything I've ever achieved with my skin using the more expensive competitors products... the ingredients were well thought out and combined (I also have an interest in Chemistry/Biology) ... I wonder if the careful hand of excellence, precision and ethical consideration will continue with Deciem under it's new leadership... Brandon was truly unique and not likely to be adequately replaced any time soon with the politics in play at present... but the information surrounding this unfortunate incident is sketchy... and it may serve as a warning to us all who may wish to enter into big business some day... stress is high... as is the risk when large established companies are involved. Brandon may well have been a soul created for a more aware time in humanity's social evolution that the larger companies weren't ready for. If we don't take note now and start becoming more active in the assessment of what has happened - someone else may fall victim to the same atrocity - having a dream bigger than the selfish leadership of this world is willing to embrace for fear of losing their foothold. I never met him personally - I wish I would have - and now I never will.

Oh, well. Here is the video from about a year after this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJzCqoCho9mLqMk At the very beginning of which, without too "MEAN COMMENTS" about Brandon Truaxe, but saying that his questionable and controversial behavior (and it was so) "left the whole company with the bad taste" - WHY THE FOUNDER'S BEHAVIOR WOULD DIMINISH THE WORK OF ALL THE COMPANY WORKERS INCLUDING BRILLIANT CHEMISTS? - and saying repeatedly that the alternatives are BETTER - with no factual proof or even proper testing. In the video above Nadine has said at least that those companies that popped up were "inspired" by The Ordinary (MakeUpRevolution just copied TO plain and simple, but badly). In the new video dedicated The INKEY list and clearly sponsored there was no more mention of this inspiration kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4OTaJibeMehqcU

Enjoyed the interview but feel Nadine overshadowed her guest with her comments until the end. Would have liked for him to be more in control of the conversation.

This man is absolutely fabulous and has such a refreshing passion for our industry!!! I have used a single skincare brand as a facialist/esthetician for the past eight years. I look forward to adding Brandon's products to my regimen for myself and my clients. He is so wonderful and I agree with every single thing he said. Education is the only tool you need to sell a product!!!

What I find so amazing about The Ordinary besides the price is the transparency in what it's products are supposed to do and how- they seem to really care about informing their customers via their websites.

Great interview! This is quite a different look at the beauty industry. A product costs under one dollar to make, but it's all about how it competes with the same products on the market - packaging, marketing, sales tactics etc. I think we all have bought a $100 cream that did the same as a $10 cream.

I just started my regime with The ordinary ..... I cant believe he's gone =( If it weren't for him ... I would never have been able to get my hands on such science ~ He gave the world so much with his own knowledge .... So so sad. I pray the brand remains true to his vision for ever. Thank you for this interview and Thank you Brandon for everything. Please rest of peace.

This was fabulous to watch, you are both so educated in the beauty industry. And if you are reading these messages Brandon or any of your team i just wanted to say thanks for creating ranges that have changed my life because they do what they say they do. I have now virtually recovered from a really rather bad reactive skin episode caused by Chemo medication. And Nadine i would like to thank you too for being a good infuencer in the first place by introducing me to it, it was so depressing having to cover up my face like i was icing a cake every morning and the medication i was given previous to using Deciems to "sort" the problem out was just drying the skin more and making matters worse. I have now spread the word and the love for Deciem as everyone who knows me knows how much of a improvement i have had and ask me what i am using, my skin looks great now in comparison thanks to Brandon and his team. xxxx

More!!! What a very nice and interesting human being he is. I would’ve loved to hear Brandon talk even more about the science behind some of the products. (Is there a Directors Cut where he expounds more? I’d love to see it 😄) I think there’s a tendency in the beauty industry to dumb down and assume consumers can’t understand, but Deciem don’t do that which is fantastic! Integrity all the way. How refreshing.

So sad & shocking. I heard of Brandon’s death on Dr. Davin Lim video & it was tastefully done. I remember this video too & wanted to give my condolences to his family & friends. Brandon was a true pioneer in the skincare industry & seemed so genuine. I hope he found the peace that he couldn’t find on this earth. RIP

Nadine, I absolutely loved this video! I'm such a fan of Brandon and what he has done with Deciem. The Ordinary changed everything to me. I can' even think about buying other brands anymore and when I see the prices.... it's just ridiculous! I'm in my late 30s and although I've always taken good care of my skin, with the Ordinary it's amazing without me going bankrupt! Now I'm really eyeing NIOD as the next level skincare routine. So glad you interviewed him, thanks so much! You're a star!

I learned a few things and was very interested in Brandon's favourite products! Love the fact that that many products are made in Canada 🇨🇦

I was very sad to hear of his passing. While I had heard of The Ordinary, I had never tried and of their products until last year. I can speak about The Ordinary as far as them being great, results-producing products at prices that most of us can afford. Thank you, Brandon. May you RIP. 🙏🏼

I discovered Deciem about 2 months ago and I am crazy about The Ordinary. I already appreciated the strict regulations in Canada that prohibits mi/mci (as well as other harmful chemicals), but this product line has completely inspired my skincare routine, it is beginning to change my skin, and I adore the business philosophy. After this interview with Brandon, I feel even better about using these remarkable products. Thank you for this information!

WOW! That was so so wonderful! I adore the transparency of Brandon and Deciem. Nothing is off limits to discuss. It's so nice to hear someone from the industry talk about the marketing, funding and operations that go on behind the curtain. Finally the consumer is being treated with respect and not being treated like an idiot with a credit card. Thanks Nadine for doing this video. XXXXX

This was incredible, one of the best and most informative skincare videos I have seen. I've been loving the ordinary, and was curious about Niod as well. I love the heavy use and influence of science, vs shying away from it and covering it up with pointless bright packaging and scents. Everything here just seems so honest, interesting, intelligent and tasteful. Thank you so much for this interview.

wow, I had no idea he had passed. I took a hiatus from the online beauty community in early 2018 and always just assumed things had gotten better for him. it's unfortunate that he won't have the opportunity to continue to revolutionize the industry in the ways he planned to. he was uh, unconventional, to say the least and i'm sure he had demons (as we all do). but in terms of what he did with his companies in such a short time period, he was a visionary and a rebel who never underestimated the customer and for that I respect him.

I really enjoyed watching this. I'm completely new to him and his brands. I wish I could of actually heard more of him talking out and finishing his thoughts without the woman constantly cutting him off. I enjoyed her and her questions as well but I never ended up getting his response because she never just let him speak. I'm leaving this video confused as to everything because brandon never got to finish any thoughts. I'll go on and do my research on him and I'm unfortunately not able to watch this woman's chanel ever again. Lovely lady, I just found the constant interruption too much

Thank you so much for doing this interview. The Ordinary has got me looking ingredients up and figuring out what does what. It has helped me to figure out my own skin care issues and not constantly spend tons of money on it. I think he has helped to create a more educated consumer. Plus, your questions were spot on and what I as a consumer, would have asked. Definitely checking out the NMF!
