I'm not sure if pivoting from Europe to North America was correct? White had already shown that he (or she) was an erratic player - going for S America, then going also for N America, then massing troops against Green. Maybe staying out of the way would have been the move, or alternatively taking Europe and seeing if Green would allow you to hold?

Yeah. White had just stacked everything against green. The move likely distracted white from focusing on green.

It's easy to guess about the future, but it's almost impossible to accurately predict it. Green looked VERY menacing at that point, re size and amount of stuff on the north border of Africa. So I think it was a coin flip. And of course, AFTER the fact, WHATEVER happens, it's EASY to say, "I knew the other way was better." But respectfully, no, it MIGHT have been better, but no one can know that for sure.

You gave him EVERY chance. At the point he didn't back down, all he had to do was be reasonable and say, leave a stack back in Asia and SA and let you BOTH have a continent. The average house cat should have been able to see that you'd likely SU if he didn't back off at that point.

I think the North America pivot was great. But the mistake was the fortify to Iceland instead of Greenland. When you hold 5/7 of Europe and then fortify so that it looks like you’re going for Europe as well as NA he has to break to not let you snowball. Then it puts it in his mind that you are the greedy player that you made him out to be. Yes the take away is actually in the end after all that that he should have backed off and moved his stack and kept it in Asia.

At the end, I don’t see why you think Green and Red were making a mistake. As long as Green is out generating both you and Magenta, why should he be in a hurry? And Magenta has nothing to gain by hitting Green, as he could get third instead of second.

i would have run back to europe after he broke na but would have put my border stack on greenland to stop him ever taking +7 then tried t slow play the game. But i know pete doesnt really care about elo and is more focussed on having fun and putting on a good show so for him i totally get the suiiii lol

Sorry Pete but you played the game badly. Firstly, you were in a great position in Europe. White were trying to take both NA and SA and him and green were massing their troups on the border. You just needed to break his NA and you and green could have teamed up on him with you having the better continent over green. Secondly, it was obvious as day for white to want to get out once you boxed him in SA. Why would you think he would not break you? Not only that he was seen to be an aggressive player when you were cussing him only a short time before. Why would he be trusted? Finally, once he broke your best decision was just to go back to Europe but you egoed it and suicide when you could still have gotten first place if you went back. Just a series of mistakes.

He had a stack in Asia that was able to get cards. The issue was more likely what Pete commented on earlier. It looks like Pete was trying to take both Europe and NA at the same time when he fortified all his troops into Iceland rather than Greenland.

You're a noob. First, White was NOT boxed in SA at all. He had a LARGE mobileposition in Asia. Could get cards, move toward Europe, etc. Second, in what world do good players let white have TWO continents while white breaks the opponents? You have NO knowledge that green wouldn't have gone full aggro if Pete had taken Europe, or at least kept breaking him. As menacing as he looked re his size in the north of Africa, I figured he likely would. You're like a bazillion people who claim they know what the stock market will do next, when you have no more idea than anyone else. But no, in your mind, you're better than the best players in the world because you can sit on KZbin and make comments. LOL

Because trying to take two major continents before the late game would be blatant greed, SURE to be punished -- and clear to all but the biggest risk noobs.

​@@JohnNaru2112the issue is not about whether white can take cards but why would white accept only having SA? If you were white, would you accept only SA and take cards in Asia? The path to winning was to sit tight in Europe and let white and green fight. Green had to fight White or he would only have Africa. Break white until green is let into SA. Now it is fair since all 3 players have +5 but hopefully the fight in SA would have weakened them both. In that position once Europe is secured, team with white so Pete gets Africa and white get SA. That is also fair-ish but africa is plus 1 over SA. Green is also the better player to kill.
