First of all, to a lot of these younger dudes that do not, i repeat do not know about an organ is or can do in the first place, your negative comments are invalid. The reason a lot of these organists play the way they do now days is because of Butch Heyward, but their skills are still not as deep as his. They know the tricks and hot chords but a lot of times lose the melody of the song trying to show off jazzy chord changes. I can speak on it because I know Butch personally and have spoken to

When one says a person cannot play, whether it be live or on video, it means that they don't have the ability to put notes together and make chords. Now if you had of said that Butch doesen't soud good on the video clip, that's a little more accurate than he can't play. This may not be the best Butch has to offer right here, but compared to some of the others that are on here, Butch sounds great. And you are right when you say Derrick Jackson is a monster, he is bad.

him about it. And forget trying to play a hymn....they're the worse when it comes to that. Ask folks like John Peters and Melvin Crispell (who a lot the younger musicians have heard of) about Butch. I've played in revivals with Butch and his skills are far beyond what you hear in this video. This is an instructional video and is meant to instruct. This is not a clinic!
