Butch Reed was a great wrestler it's hard to believe he was suppose to be the next guy to take the IC title from Ricky the dragon Steamboat but he didn't show up and he was replaced. Man he would of made a great IC or World's Champion back in they old school WWE days.

Agree, he could have been a super cool Intercontinental champion.
@JuliusC1973

He would have been The First Black Intercontinental Champion if The WWF actually had decided to do that. We will never know for sure, unless Vince McMahon says so. Neither The WWWF nor The WWF had had a Black World Champion to that point.

Butch Reed should of been NWA world champion. He would of made a great one. Now this Marty Lunde, I don't see him having a future in the wrestling business lol.

Arn was only 24 here, yet he looks like he was in his late 30's. He always had the same look. Fun match.

For real! Arn always looked old. I think he was born 45 years old! : )

he looked old when he was young, but 10 years later, when everyone else looked 10 years older, Arn looked like he hadn't aged a day.

Arn was far more muscular here because he was a competing powerlifter . I could tell he was going to be somebody . At about this or a little before Tully was jobbing in Midsouth and so was Buddy Landell .

Two Masters of the Ring setting a perfect example for students. The crowd can easily identify the Heel and BabyFace. The crowd stays in touch the entire match and pops several times. No Furniture, No Coloring, and No Cheap Heat - just pure wrestling and good bumps! RIP Butch and thank you Arn.

Holy S*** That is Arn Anderson using his birth name, Marty Lunde. Actually never knew his real name until I just looked it up. Great match.

Arn got his first break in Continental and Mid-South, before he was given the Anderson name. As you can see, here he looks the same way he did during his Horsemen days. 😊

And it was the Junkyard Dog who gave arm Anderson his name he told Ole Anderson he looks like an Anderson I’m surprised Ole listened to the Dog knowing how he felt about black wrestlers

He would soon leave Mid-South and come to Atlanta as Arn Anderson. Actually, they wanted Ted DiBiase back in Atlanta to team with Matt Borne. Borne was never too fond of Arn. They were supposed to "win" the National Tag Team Titles, but Matt's issues prevented that. He was let go and then Arn likewise. Thankfully, he got on in Alabama where he and Jerry Stubbs became tag team champions there.

Look how much wrestling has changed. I was a big fan of Reed. Just yesterday I saw a no disqualification match with the Heartbreak kid versus shane McMahon .If these guys would have went at it like McMahon did it would have been a great match.this match your not going to remember much in 10 years.the match yesterday had the Heartbreak kid on a ladder and took Shane from the top ladder and put himself and Shane in two tables on the floor.chairs trashcans ladder's and Vince getting involved. This could be a lot better

funny, all the criticism WWF gets for pushing chemically enhanced freaks, here around the same time, a good old fashioned southern promotion pushing a roided up monster, over the much more talented, but "average looking" future Arn.
