This is the best video I have seen on Fly timing. It's hard to express how much important is to tell your mind over and over again by repetition the correct way to do a movement BEFORE actually trying to do it in the pool or in the court, track etc... Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Anyone who leaves his computer and go try swimming butterfly would find out pretty quickly that there are no thousands ways to lift your head out of the water and catch breath

Well, to me, the upper body position is not correct when the head is down and the arms are in the water. You have a major bend at the hip. Watching an underwater of Michael Phelps some years back, his arms are parallel to the top of the water, which is minimal drag position. His chest is maybe 18 inches below the top of the water, so huge arch in his chest and back. For those I see who swim it properly, this is more similar than what your avatar is doing. It just appears to be a high drag position.

sorry for the late reply. Our tech team does not know enough to answer your question. Here below came straight from the experts of Fluid Mechanics: “ You are absolutely correct from the standpoint of increased drag. However, the reason we went this way is we build futuristic strokes. Not trying to study the fastest swimmers of today, but looking at what’s possible for the future, from a physics standpoint. Although drag is very important to consider, we also need to consider the opportunities that skeletal leverage and generation of force present, specifically the effect that increasing propulsion can have on athletic performance. This type of stroke allows us to take significantly more distance per cycle. The reduction of cycle count combined with the increase of cycle rate is proving that drag is not the single component we want to consider or focus on. for more information or to discuss your ideas contact us at swim@fluidmechanics.net and ask for John.”

I suggest fluid mechanics experts just try swimming the schmetterling's stroke in a pool instead of in front of their computer screens 😂
