If you live in the States you can find it in the dairy section. You can make a good substitute. Take 1 cup (240 ml) milk and stir in 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Let stand at room temperature and then it's ready to use.

I made this pancakes for my family last week, I didn't have buttermilk on hand, and I used sour cream instead, they came out soooo good, my son told me I should open a pancake house :P thank you!!

You can make your butter milk at home by adding some vinegar or lemon juice (make sure to add a good amount of lemon juice or vinegar to regular milk) and then let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes

I don't cook very often, but I was able to make these and they came out amazing! I only made half the recipe and since I didn't have buttermilk, I mixed 1/2 cup of 2% milk and 1/2 tbsp vinegar. Thank you Mrs. Jaworski for this delicious, easy recipe :D

I have made this recipe over and over. It’s a wonderful recipe for light fluffy delicious pancakes. I always double the recipe so that there are a few extras for the following morning. The only change I make, is that I add a couple teaspoons of vanilla extract. Which I always do in pancake recipes that don’t call for vanilla. We just prefer the added flavor that the vanilla provides :) 2 thumbs up from this mama of 3!

I made these pancakes today with the liquid that's leftover from making butter from heavy whipping cream, instead of milk or storebought buttermilk. I added apple cider vinegar, and blueberries. It came out very beautiful. Definitely will be using this recipe after this. Thank you.

I always separate the egg white and whip it, after mixing all ingredients I fold in the egg whites. This makes a very light pancake

You can make your own baking powder. One teaspoon of baking powder can be substituted with 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar, and 1/4 teaspoon cornstarch (corn flour).

LOL I just made these. I didn't have any buttermilk, but I did have some really soured milk. so I just shook it up really good until it was smooth. I had exactly three cups. So I made a triple batch for my sons and I, along with half a pound of sausage paties and 3 braised eggs each, they have hollow legs. About halfway through cooking these, I realized I didn't put any sugar in the batter. So I tasted one of the pancakes, and holy cow did they taste good! Absolutely no sugar needed! And they browned up just fine! I used a large stew ladle and made 7 large pancakes that fluffed up to about 3/4 of an inch thick and 10 inches across. Best Savory pancakes that ever had in my life!;-) This is a keeper!

I just made this recipe as shown in the video, they were moist and fluffy! I found out that room temp liquid ingredients help keep the butter from seizing up, I usually use oil but can't argue with what works. I will make these again!
