A traditional southern pie with a unique flavor all its own. It's simple to make and a favorite among country people. My granny always made this pie just for me. I was her pick of the litter, so I got special treatment :)
You can serve this pie hot or cold, fancy looking or just plain country looking. If you have family or friends who have never tasted Buttermilk Pie, then treat them to a cut of it. They'll love you for it!

1/2 cup - Melted real butter
3 tablespoons - All purpose flour
3 - Eggs

1 cup - Buttermilk
A 9 inch deep dish pie crust or make your own • Pie Crust - Made With ...
If you want to make it fancy top it with some caramel sauce • Caramel Sauce - The Hi...
and some fresh whipped cream • How to Make Fresh Home...

Good morning, Mrs. Becky! Thank you for sharing this delicious and most memorably scrumptious buttermilk pie. My great grand aunts often made this pie for the fall and winter months. This takes me back over five decades. Wow! 🤣 ❤️❤️❤️👍💯

The first time I made buttermilk pie I used skim buttermilk because that's all my local grocery store was selling at the time. The custard separated and became watery. Now that my local grocery carries the full-fat variety, my pies come out perfect every time.

Hey Becky! Thanks so much for this video! Just a couple comments (if I may be so bold!) I think if you reduced your oven temperature to 350 degrees, you may find you do not have to "tent" the pie for 30 minutes, or worry about getting an overly brown pie after an hour. It's ok if the pie jiggles (a little) when done, but not all loosey-goosey (which means it needs a little more time in the oven). Regardless, I love the simplicity of this recipe! I will definitely try it :)

This is my hubby's favorite dessert. The first time he tried it, I told him it was "Southern Sweetie pie" as he despises buttermilk. He had never had it until I made it the way my grandma did, using real butter and real vanilla extract. Since he is diabetic, we make this using Splenda and it still turns out superb! One note - do not try using margarine - it doesn't set up properly. I cook mine at 350, for 55 minutes and don't use the foil. One other thing, I've found if I set the pie shell and (under pan) on the oven rack before pouring it into the shell, I'm less likely to spill any. Perfect every time.
