My parents were from Tennessee but moved to Indiana for work before I was born. I loved my Tennessee Granny so much and often spent a month of our summer break from school with her. She lived on a small farm with my aunt and uncle. I loved the county, the food and most of her love and warmth. From earliest memory of visiting her, I remembered sleeping in her featherbed and her kiss goodnight. She would always make me butterscotch pie every time I came to see her because he knew it was my favorite. I have tried to replicate her pie but it can never get it to taste as good as hers. My goodness I miss my Granny and those days. Now my parents are gone as well and are buried in Tennessee near her. Even though there is hardly any of my family left there, I still go and stay near buy just so I can go place some flowers and talk to them. Sounds crazy I know. But from watching your channel for a while now, I can tell you know I difficult it is to lose those we love. Thanks for passing on this recipe, I will certainly be giving it a try.

This reminded me of going with my grandmother to visit my great aunt who lived in the country in TN. We also slept on the feather beds. I woke up at the crack of dawn to the smell of coffee, bacon, eggs & gravy. I don't specifically remember butterscotch pie but it certainly could've been one of many delicious dishes we had there. Thanks for reminding me of such a wonderful memory. 😊

My dad had lost his sense of taste. When mom made butterscotch pie, sometimes she would use three eggs, sometimes four. Dad almost always guessed how many eggs were in the pie, either three or four based on texture. It was a fun game in our household. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. It is my favorite pie.

I laughed when you talked about your daughter making the merigue peaks for the pie (and that you don't care for the peaks). My friend used to make cornbread for her dad, who always ate it up. Not until she was a mom herself did he ever confess that he didn't like cornbread. When she asked him why he ate it, he simply said "Because you made it." 🥰

That sweet story reminds me of when I cooked my Grandpa's over medium eggs. He woke very early and made his breakfast every day before going to work. One morning, as a girl, I woke when he did. He let me cook his eggs for him. When he said that they were perfect I felt so proud. I still remember to this day how happy his compliment made me feel!
