Yeah he was quick considering he swapped the S54 E46 M3 engine making about 340hp into this E30, full suspension upgrade, brakes, roll cage, gutted, weighs 2500 lbs and racing tires! He was running about 2:01's which is close to where I should have been on a good clean lap. I usually run the Black advanced drivers group and I am one of the faster guys with mostly stock cars, full interior and street tires. Not hating on him, because we are all out there to have fun and I hate making excuses, but on this day he was a bit reckless and spun out in front of me in 2 out of the 3 sessions that I ran in and made some passes around me without a point by while I was being nice and stuck in traffic, which ruined a few of my best chances at a good clean lap time. Oh well, that's how racing at these events goes some times. Search smoking tire one takes and you will see Matt Farah review this guys E30 car. It's well sorted and fast for a gutted track car. Although I have to say I gave him a run for his money in my mostly stock C4S weighing 3400lbs ;^) haha...

qikqbn77 No need to explain about the reasons. I understand 100%. I own a 997.1 Base Carrera and have been AutoX and track events since 1996. Yes, I remember that car on smoking tire. Matt fell in love with it. That swap is a dream and very expensive ($10k). Quick question.....what camera and software are you using to get the time, track's map etc on this video? Also, what tires are you using? I'm about to go from 295's to 305's in the rear....Michelin Pilot Sport.

Harry's Lap Timer App. They have different price options, but I paid for the full enchilada. It's not too expensive and has some great features and very accurate. A lot of weekend track guys use it. I normally just record it from my android phone camera, but there is also a feature that allows you to wifi in to your go pro at the same time. I seem to get less wind buffeting noise from my gopro cam, but was having technical difficulties that day and it did not get it to wifi hook up correctly. As far as Tires. I use Michelin Super Sports 245/35/19 tires on 8.5 wide front rims and 325/30/19 tires on 11.5 wide rear rims. What I noticed when going to bigger tires is that you get more rubber and contact patch for more grip, but you also get a tic more side wall play/wiggle before the car settles into the turn. If you can imagine that with stock tire sizes your side wall is a little bit leaning towards the middle of the rim and that takes some flex out of the side wall travel side to side. With larger tires your sidewalls will "square up" to the rim. Bigger contact patch, but now the sidewall wall has a tad more material to travel side to side during cornering... hope that makes sense! I got use to them and really like the added grip along with the extra height that fills in the wheel well and can give a bit more comfort on regular roads. Although the extra wide tires do add some tire noise... just a bit more since our cars are already notorious for that ;^)
