BUYING A DIRT BIKE FROM A DEALERSHIP

Decided I want to get a bike to rip around on but it has been yeeaarrs since I rode a dirt bike…like once. So, since I am basically completely green I want to share the experience with you incase you don’t know how it works either. Here’s what its like to buy a dirt bike or atv from a dealership step by step. Spoiler alert: I buy a Kawasaki KLX 300

This is a great video. I have questions. Is this just the way it is or is there any negotiating or adders that can be thrown in? The reason I ask is adding 1892 dollars to the price at sale is going to throw cold water in anyone's face regardless how legit the charges are. That is a 34% increase on this motorcycle to the quoted price from the buyers point of view. I don't know if the dealers or the manufacturers have this set up like this on purpose or not but I would say this sucks. When you advertise a price and then you get all excited to go try and buy one hoping you may even be able to walk away with a little bit of a discount and you end up paying 34% more the buyer is going to feel like he lost or got completed hosed. I thought the idea of making a deal was one where the buyer feels like he paid a fair price and the seller made some money but you will never get there doing it like this. You could say the buyers expectations are too high but how is he supposed to know this before he gets disappointed? So, far only 18 people have been reached by this video. Freight is at least listed on the manufactures website. Prep is going to surprise a person and it isn't nominal so heartburn starts there. It looks like this had 10% tax and that is expected. The registration fees are reasonable. The Administration fees are unexpected and also not anticipated to be that high. So, here is 697 dollars for assembling from crate and check out that probably takes a couple hours at most and doing some paperwork that probably takes less than an hour. So, 3 hours work is 232 dollars an hour. If this is all normal and legit then there is no money in selling dirt bikes. Do you know if it would be possible to get a service manual thrown in? Or a cap? Or a t shirt? Because I can't imagine any buyer feeling good after this deal is done. Even in this video he says This is stuff I didn't know whenever I called you. This implies he came to the dealership expecting to pay less and now he is paying more and not just a little bit more. Hundreds of dollars more. The out the door price here is $7500 on a $5600 motorcycle. Ouch!

Yes you’re definitely right- but what I didnt show in the video is that you can’t find these things anywhere, at least at the time I shot the footage. I had called stores all over the region for a few weeks or month and no one had one. Called this place and they had just rolled it off the truck 20 minimum earlier. He said it would sell within a day. It did. To me.

Dealer just told me $5200 out the door for a little 2022 Kawasaki KLX140 RL for my kids. Sticker is $3600. They said freight is $1500 now…I’m like heck no.

you should have gotten the Honda crf 300l, not only does it have a gas guage but the Honda also has a gear shift indicator.

So when your shopping for a $5300 dollar bike.. you might as well call it a $8k bike. people with a tighter budget need to really be aware of that. but still I think they are worth it.. everything's pricey these days. tax! interest! if you finance.

Just go by mileage. Figure out how far you can go on a tank and reset your odometer everytime you fill up. Thats what i do. At 41 i dont have the stamina to burn a whole tank at once anymore

I just let the suckers buy the bike brand new then pick it up from them once they get tired of it or realize that they never ride it. Bought a 2022 crf450rl for $7500, after $150 tax title registration were at under $7700 for a bike that the original owner paid $12,000 for lmao
