Buying My Dream Bike.. *EMOTIONAL*

After about a year of contemplating my next trail bike, I finally came to a decision. The thought of owning this 450cc Japanese Dual Sport Machine kept me awake many nights and when I came across a deal I couldn't pass up, I knew it was the right choice.
That's right guys and girls, I bought a CRF450L !!! I honestly never thought it would happen this soon as the sticker prices for these machines are over $10,000 but a year after release some used models started to pop up and I got lucky enough to get my hands on one.
It may be heavy, and a tad bit slower than its competitors, but it's a Honda and I know it will stand the test of time. For years I had been waiting on a 450cc street legal Dual Sport from a Japanese brand, and although it is not perfect, I had to give it a try.

Congrats On the new bike! I went thru this a few months ago so a couple pointers: The idle will drop as the bike breaks in, this will cause stalling, I had to up my idle every ~500 miles for the first 2k miles. Its my opinion the ecu on this bike cuts fuel to the injector on decel, so when you get back into the gas it may seem jerky, or lurchy. If this bothers you... go straight for the Vortex ecu, and fmf header and q4 for the 450x. The throttle tamer didnt help much. Leave the emmsions canister and smog pump alone. The cheaper piggyback tuners didnt help the "lurch" but not everyone notices it. Good luck the 450l just screams with a tuner and pipe

Congrats on the purchase! One thing to keep in mind... the shine ALWAYS fades my friend. Know that going in. One day you'll be bored w/ the 450 and you'll "need" something else. Enjoy your toys, but don't "need" them, as you'll always be left disappointed and looking for something else. Can't wait to see some adventure videos on the new ride. Congrats!!! You will love the Crf450l, I own a 2019 myself, put an exhaust and a tuner on it and remove the airbox lid and you won’t believe the difference in performance over stock, it is very corked up in stock form. Ride Red!!!

Congrats! Although the KTM 500 is a much better dirtbike, you're an above average rider and will be able to do 95% of the same things on the CRF450L if you want to. The CRF is also a better KZbin investment at the moment, a fresher bike that everyone is talking about will probably yield some extra views. Pumped!

I feel you, man. All the budget bikes felt small to me. The Yamaha WR250R was the clear winner just because of the height and distance from the seat to the foot pegs. Thought it would be a while until I got one since they never show up used and are expensive new, but then a used 2017 one popped up at a dealer like 2 miles down the road with light miles on it for $5k OTD after title, tags, and tax! Nothing feels better than getting a hell of a deal on a good used bike! If you’re ever in Maryland, I’d love to ride with ya

Attention Deficit no doubt the CRF250L is a great bike for the price. My buddy has one that he’s done a few mods to and it’s pretty sweet! I’m still on my permit but will be taking the course in March and then hopefully lots of riding will occur up in the Michaux State Forest area in PA. They have 45 miles of dirt bike trails there!

Btw.....if you remove the exhaust end cap, cut off the small pipe about half way and reinstall the cap,you’ll have a much better sounding bike( until you buy a pipe )as it resonates inside the end cap and you won’t believe the difference in sound it makes!
