i second this. aftermarket caps do not get the proper presure limits correct and also dont bleed properly when those pressures are hit. OEM is best for those. hands down.

This and the expansion tank is where you want to put the bleed funnel, not the radiator. Expansion tank is the highest point in the system.

If you plan on tracking the car definitely install the Killer B oil pickup and baffle kit, possibly the oil pan from him as well. Tracking a stock ej in the hard turns will starve the oil pump and grenade the engine.

For the non-Subi boys, the air oil separator also limits blow by if present can cause detonation issues. This is a must have.

They’re putting fender flares on a clean no rust GD STI the last thing they care about is dry ice blasting lol. I cleaned my underside by hand, scuffed all surfaces then epoxy primed and put on herculiner on the whole underbody to keep it rust free. It won’t see a winter in my ownership but I just wanted to make sure. I have a lot of money in this car already and I’ve only owned it since July. And I spent a lot of time and multiple out of state trips to finally find this clean 05 STI in obsidian black pearl with lower miles, clean title, no rust whatsoever and good running. Has a stock motor with arp head studs, and I’m putting in a fuel system for e85c, got a grimmspeed jb400 turbo for it and all the supporting mods. Finishing up my 93 pro tune now. I’m in love with the car.

they probably want them to install a process west or grimmspeed tmic, but this one is already "upgraded" to a GR sti one which is bigger (hence missing STI logo). A new TMIC on a stock downpipe would also be crazy lol. The prev owner did some upgrades like the TMIC and big VA sti brakes but kept the stock downpipe? kinda weird, must have been removed when they did the motor rebuild.

I actually have a Blob eye WRX in that same color. It originally came with a set of silver Enki wheels that I really didn't care for. So when it came time to replace the tires I just sold them and bought a new set that I liked in gun metal to give it a just enough stand out look that is still low key. Gold is just too flashy for my taste but I did consider bronze wheels.

there is also a large gap, looks like they are missing a gasket like the OEM wing. I have an OEM sti trunk I was gifted that was resprayed without the oem gasket being reinstalled. it's rusting at the holes now.

That mishimoto fan shroud will make the car overheat in 90+ temps especially if you have AC on or get stuck in traffic. I don't drive my car much during summer here in Texas because of this. I need to find new fans. The stock fans have been tested to flow more air.

Seems like Seibons quality has gotten better over the years. Went through 2 of their hoods due to cracking on my Evo back in 2005-2006. They were awesome though and swapped em out for no charge.

Loving the build and glad to see the gold wheels! Yall did service both turbo coolant reservoir and radiator correct? Only saw the set up for the radiator. The turbo reservoir is important due to it being higher than the radiator. Also did yall address the banjo bolts? Hawkeyes were notorious for the banjo bolt filters getting clogged and starving the turbo of oil. The banjo filters aren’t really needed so most just delete them by removing them from the bolts. Lastly, TMIC or FMIC? Most go FMIC so they get a bigger one in. I just put in a large TMIC on mine cause I wanted to keep it stock looking but have better cooling to support my larger stock location turbo. Ran a Blouch 20G with a Process West TMIC.

Not sure if you all missed it but when the AOS was installed, did you reinstall the heatshield? It looks like some of the lines are running right over the hot side of the turbo. Also, I believe the headlights have side reflector bulbs, at least on the OEMs they had them. Love all the videos! Great build over all!

I do agree that they should had upgraded the intercooler but a top mount intercooler is more ideal for daily use. Because front mount intercoolers on Subarus would require longer piping it reduces throttle response. Making them not as fun to drive on the street.

Mishimoto radiator is the worse option you could have chosen and you guys should have went with koyorad way better option and oem fitment aswell with the oem cap. Also a front mount intercooler could have been something to upgrade, oil cooler lines close to the exhaust is useless just reheating the oil back up could have heat wrapped the exhaust where the lines are.
