I had a non inverter generator that I used for camping here in Alaska. If you don't want someone camping next to you, Just start that thing up. LOUD. I bought a Honda inverter 2000i and have had it about 20 yrs and it is quiet and still runs great. Honda all the way.

Hello @oceanproalaska2203 ...yeah, sure, Honda generators are great. But you're not going to get a 3000-watt Honda for $400-more like $2000. And the noise from my generator is music to my ears when I can run my air conditioner during a power outage. 😄We live in the tropics, hot and humid, unlike Alaska. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Wow, that thing is loud. I hope you are using a fuel treatment for storage if you don't ever run it outside of the storm causing the outtage. We're looking at getting a diesel Greenfield because we lose power at least weekly here in Bukidnon. Just going to have it wired directly into the house though. Was wondering the quality of the brand.
@G5Philippines Жыл бұрын
Hello... yeah, it's loud because I was in the carport, it's not that bad inside the house. I would consider going with a mainstream brand such as Honda or something. But I'm actually looking at portable generators, or power stations for my future power backup solution. These can be charged by AC or solar, or both. I bought a small unit and it has been a real game-changer for keeping my computer workstation up and running for the sporadic and momentary outages.
@gibblespascack14182 жыл бұрын
Since you do not use the generator monthly, you should place it into long term storage mode. Run it out of gas, change the oil, then remove the spark plug, put a little oil in the cylinder, pull the cord three times, then put the spark plug back in.

@@G5Philippines It is the same for us, in our area. When we have a real power outage out about once every 5 years A normal one is a few hours, but a real one is about 3-5 days. So when there is a real one(Super Storm Sandy, or a hurricane) when we know the severity, we start the running 4-5 hr in the morning and 4-5 hr at night to keep the fridge/freezers cold, or heat the house, if it is winter. That schedule uses 2 gallons of gas per day, and a car or marine battery plus 400 W inverter take care of everything else(fan, radio, tv). We also have 22 gal of stabilized gas on standby for any emergency. That will cover 8 days easily, possible 10 if no gas stations are open(super storm sandy example)

hi! it's May 2024. 1. Is it still working fine? 2. after the issue that was fixed, has it failed again? 3. how do you connect it to your home? is it via a manual transfer switch to the main panel board or via extension cord? if extension cord, what wire gauge? thanks!
@G5Philippines5 ай бұрын
Hello @forblocking9484 ... Good questions! Here's an update as of May 2024: 1. Yes, the generator is still working fine. It's been reliable since the repair. 2. After the issue with the crankshaft was fixed, it's been running smoothly and efficiently ever since. 3. For connecting it to my home, I use extension cords rather than a direct connection to the main panel board. I use heavy-duty extension cords, typically 12-gauge, to ensure safety and to handle the load, especially when powering larger appliances or running it for extended periods. Take care and let me know if you have any more questions!

What happened to the three months without the generator? I have my elderly parents in Manila and I am looking for a good generator that will at least run their refrigerator, small appliances like the blender, oven, lights, AC in their room, electric fan, TV, internet for the security cameras. Will this generator help them with their needs in case of a brownout?
@G5Philippines9 ай бұрын
Hello @adelinalopez5778 ... the 3 months, I don't remember missing it, it might have just been that since we didn't have it, we just sorta suffered through the brown outs, but I don't recall it being a problem. Of course I'd always rather have it and was glad when we got it back. As for your parents, one thing they have going for them in Manila is that the power infrastructure is much more reliable than where we live. But as for a recommendation, I would actually recommend a power station rather than a gasoline or diesel generator. For an elderly couple, hassling with keeping gasoline or diesel on hand, filling it up when it runs out, the maintenance, its a lot to manage. There are powerstations that can be charged by AC (wall plug) and/or solar powered. These are great because they are quiet, can be kept indoors and there are units that can support everything you listed. They can be expensive, but that would be my recommendation. You can go to the Bluetti website to look at the various models. www.bluettipower.ph/ I hope that helps.

Nice that it was covered under warranty, but doesn't that really deserve one star off? If it had failed during Odette, (and easily could have) how would you then rate it? You may be the unlucky 1 out of 10,000 ... but maybe not.
@G5Philippines8 ай бұрын
Hello @Philc2 ...absolutely, I understand your point, and yeah, it would have been a huge bummer if it had failed during odette, but here's why I still rate it 5-star. 1) The price - at $400, was a bargain compared to other generators in the 3100-watt range, which can go for $800-$1500. If "you get what you pay for," I feel I got more than my money's worth. 2) performance - over the past 4 years, it's surpassed my expectations, which has been a pleasant surprise. 3) warranty - the store honored it and fixed the generator at no extra cost. Even though it took longer than I would've liked, their commitment to resolving the issue was key for me. So, 4+ years in and based on my experience, I stand by my 5-star review. Cheers! 🙂👍🏻

I was looking to buy the 6kva version. Thanks for this vid, how do you connect this to your houses electrical to power different rooms? Or do you just use a long extension cord
@G5Philippines2 жыл бұрын
Hello @RedViperBear, yes you are correct about finding reliable (real world) information about the various lines of generators available in the Philippines. In fact, the way I found this one was just going to the different retail stores here in our home city, and more or less decided on this based on the wattage output and price. It seems we need to be cautious of look-alike brands that can be knock-offs. To answer how I connect stuff. Yes, I am just running extension cords. I have them placed conveniently, so it's a fairly quick hook-up to the main areas we need power. Eventually we will build, and I will run electrical wiring and outlets to various places that are fed by the generator. Thanks!

HI g5! Are you able to run your inverter type aircon, ref and your UPS's off this generator with no problems? I was made to think these non-inverter types put out "dirty" electricity and would therefore fry the electronics of off those? Thanks in advance.

Hello @Cotto On ... Actually, yes. I hadn't heard about the "dirty" electricity, and I just plugged stuff in. Now, I have not run my digital inverter split-unit air conditioner on it, but I have run our digital inverter refrigerator and it runs perfectly. I also run our window A/C's as well. I have also ran my AVR's (automatic voltage regulators) in front of the UPS on my computer workstation, they display the incoming voltage, and the generator provides a consistent 218-220 volts. Kind of a long answer, but there you go. 😂

@@bermut716 YES! location of the generator can help. @@G5Philippines Hi, what do you mean 'produces 1.5 times the minimum requirements? By the way, can you supply electrical power to your entire house with your generator model, or limited appliances only? I am thinking of getting a generator that can supply power as a normal electric company and just connect 1 electrical cable to the main circuit breaker with a manual transfer switch, can you share your thoughts? Thanks a lot in advance...
@G5Philippines2 жыл бұрын
Hello @@bermut716 yes... look at your aircon unit, check the wattage specification, if it says 800 watts... then you will want your generator to be a minimum of 1200 watts. If you add your refirgerator and it is 800 watts, then you will want your generator to produce a minimum of 2400 watts to cover both the aircon and refrigerator. Your generator needs to produce 1.5 times the wattage specs that you are running. As for a whole-house setup. Sure you can do that, I suggest hiring an electrician to create a circuit for the generator that ties to your main breaker box. There are automatic setups, but you will need to switch it from the powerline to the generator. I'm not an electrician, so I cannot advise you on how to do the wiring. 😆

Hello @WiRe How to And Diy ... thanks for sharing, but unfortunately, solar setups are very expensive compared to fuel gensets. I purchased my 3100W genset for P21k (or $400USD). To purchase a 3100W solar kit, with the solar panel(s), starts at P50K up to P250K (or $1000USD up to $5000USD) and that doesn't even count the installation of the solar panels. The solar setup is reliant on good sun, and if we are in a multi-day storm and clouds, the solar inverter does not charge efficiently. I am a super fan of solar, and will eventually implement a full-house solar system, but for now, my fuel genset is easy to operate, and even with gasoline, is still MUCH cheaper and more reliable compared to solar inverters. 🙂👍🏻
