Worker from Olive Garden here. You can pretty much buy anything (with the exception of certain things like chairs and tables) like plates, non-alcoholic beverage glasses, alcoholic glasses, drink mixes, cheese graters, dressings, food related items, etc. Pretty much just ask us and most of the time we’ve said yes to these types of questions.

At the Olive Garden I worked at guests could buy the glasses also. We had a button for it and everything, we also had a button for miscellaneous items where they could buy silverware, paintings, salad bowls etc. I'm sure they would sell the employees if they could. Anything for a quick buck smh I definitely stole a couple cheese graters and dishes of all sorts when i worked there haha

Hey, this is an Olive Garden manager and training here. Yes some Olive Garden allow you to buy cheese graters if they have enough in stock however not every single Olive Garden will sell you one since mine doesn’t because we don’t have enough in stock. But buying anything else except for the food is way less likely to happen. That painting was the oneoff thing and the ziosk is not for sale

They literally go over how guests can purchase a cheese grater during training. It’s a “cute”, upsell technique to use if a guest asks to leave a cheese grater at the table OR if they wish to use it themselves on whatever food they have. The new ones are boxed and kept behind the To Go counter. Also, if a guest does want to buy one after upwelling them on it…the guest has to purchase it separately at the To Go counter - at least at my location - so it doesn’t even ring under your sale numbers.

Hi, I used to work there. So yes, funnily enough we do sell cheese graters. We sell a ton of other things like the syrup for our peach bellini tea as well as blue moon beer glasses that are olive garden themed. I own two of them and they only come around once or twice a year.
