I bought 7 pair of various AceMark shoes based on your (and other youtuber style guys) rec. in other videos Holy moly what a shoe. I almost felt like I underpaid when I pulled these exquisite pieces of foot furniture out of the box. The quality is just mind blowing. I haven't received my set yet but can't wait...I originally bought the wrong size and had to return them (guys, truly take the time to print out the size guide measure yourself and order the right size their last is very gracile and caters to people with high instep so if you are flat footed you may find that your regular size in another brand is way too tight for AM, like I did). That said , the few minutes I spent with the first batch was all the proof I needed that this was an exceptional shoe maker. I have another 6 pair of dress shoes in the queue as a Christmas Gift to ME plus 2 of their luxury dress sneakers in preparation for the Spring. I bought an entire wardrobe of the standard styles that I love. (Bluchers, Cap Toe Ox's, Whole Cuts, Monk Straps, Chucka's) I see them as an investment and buying a set means I can cycle/rotate them (just as you suggested) ...which means it takes a lot longer for any one of them to wear....I plan on having these for the next 50 years or longer. I also got a bunch of shoe trees from Houndsbay rather than the Acemarks ones since they are so expensive.

Here's a tip. 1. Find your size for Allen Edmonds shoes. 2. Go to shoebank for their factory seconds. 3. Buy a wingtip, an Oxford, and the most absurd looking shoe such as the Dalton or Broadstreet spectators, because man needs a high quality clash shoe.

I have tested a Barker(brand in Engalnd UK) shoes just like that over the weekend and they had to be made for my feet but I'm not sure if they are just a 1-2 years fashion piece or they can stay in fashion for years to come. I think that they will fall into casual category.? Thank you

Sometimes if you are at the right place at the right time you can find some real bargains. I recently was at an estate sale where I picked up a pristine pair of Allen Edmonds with the cedar shoe trees for $10.00. Also I think it is also just as important to keep the insides of your shoes in good condition as well. I always get a cheap pair of air pillow insoles to keep the inside footbed of my shoes looking good. I just replace as necessary.

Love your videos, ive been binge watching them non stop. I never cared about dressing nice, but do now, and have started small. But I have a problem. I'm a bigger guy, with huge feet. I wear a size 15 wide normally. And the rockports I have are fine, but not amazing. What kind of dress shoe style would compliment my feet instead of accentuating it weirdly? Plain toe, round for, square toe, Oxford, etc.
@jonstern7511
@jonstern7511 5 жыл бұрын
William Nett Antonio will know more than me but some Italian Blake stitched shoes can have little or no rim round the edge compared to a Goodyear Welted shoe. This makes the shoe less big and bulky and I think would complement your foot size. Any dress shoe shape (rounded rather than square) should work

Great video- well presented with great advice. It would be great if the shoe companies that sponsor your videos would make shoes that would fit my very long extra narrow (13A) feet. This is why I wear Allen Edmonds factory seconds. AE makes great shoes. I'd like a bit more variety.

Walmart wrangler slip ons are amazing. They’re $15, or probably a nine on comfort level, and lasted me at least six months while working at a hardware store and running around a lot as a student, sometimes I also wear them while I work out. Probably the best value possible for shoes, in my opinion. Obviously, dress shoes, but fantastic for casual or around the house type situations.

Here is an idea for a new video: techniques to match your phone with your wardrobe. Phones are now an essential part of everyday carry, and I think it might be worthwhile to match to start matching their colors and all with your wardrobe. I personally have a blue phone, with a black case for everyday carry. For more formal occasions, I remove the case and the blue of the phone matches with my blue suit or a tie I am wearing. Small things like this may make an impact (or I may be reading too much into things haha). This may require a bit of research as it seems like an area of fashion that hasnt been broken into yet. Btw, you may also be able to get a sponsor from dbrand, a smartphone skin manufacture.

I am a big fan of your's and have learnt a lot from you about style. You are literally an inspiration for me........ But sir, i just wanted to ask, the wax that you said to apply on the shoe rather than a polish (cream), but the wax is applied only in the hard surfaces of the shoe (like the toe cap area)..... Otherwise if the wax is in the middle portion of the shoe, then it creates creases while walking...... So just to ask you, does applying wax to the whole shoe have any bad effects on the shoe?

I do have some gripes with Allen Edmonds, I don't love every shoe they make. Some are downright ugly. But that's okay, they have a pretty wide variety and there's something for everyone. What keeps me coming back is that they have multiple widths for EVERY shoe! Few others do that. Plus they have local retail stores. Sure, I'd like to try Alden or Crockett and Jones, but I don't have $2k to spend on a trip to London to get my $700 shoes fitted.

Just seems like a hassle, especially if you want something that fits. Ace Marks look nice, as well as Thursday Boots, but I have to try them on before buying something like that. The value equation should also include something that accounts for the business value of shoes. Frankly I don't like oxfords (I like Derbys) but I own them for the office and job interviews. Your shoes do create an impression and that has value. I doubt your shoes alone would get you the job but the wrong one certain can cost you the job with observant interviewers.

Damn, I checked Ace Marks and, while they are on the expensive side of my pocket (and I don't live in the US) they have some really nice shoes, many I've seen them on RMRS

I agree in principle but I don't wear belts unless I absolutely have too because suspenders are better in every possible way.

Need some good shoes fast for a job interview coming up. I can’t wear my Paris Jordan 5’s!! Any suggestions where to look for the high value dress shoe that’s not online?

For not online only shoe stores the budget-friendly "Johnston & Murphy" and then for higher end "Allen Edmonds". You will still need to break in the shoes. Buying a brand new Allen Edmond and wear it to an interview the next day can cause foot problems. I had no problem breaking in Allen Edmonds black derby and brown split toe dress shoes but the penny loafers after almost 90 days trying I had to return them.

Alvin Sanchez How do you go about breaking them in? Do you just use them lightly in your home or something?
@alvinsanchez967

@@JRCxyz First getting the correct fit. Fit is KING. The momment you wake up through the day your feet are slowly sweelling larger. So get measured in the evening when your feet are at the largest and wear the type of socks you are going to wear with the type of footwear you are buying. No thick work socks with dress shoes or thin dress shocks with heavy workboots. Go to the store and get measured. Some companies use the standard Brannock device but others have their own scale size. My Ace Mark wholecut nico oxford are 11 E standard device and fit me perfectly but my Allen Edmonds shoes are 10 E to their device scale. Try on a range of sizes with your measured size as a center point and different types of shoes. Some style of shoes even from the same manufacture may be made from a different last and thus fit different. Some types shoes are less forgiving ( ie open lace vs closed lace vs no lace). I had only tried on lace shoes and no penny loafers at an AE store. Which gave me trouble with the penny loafers I had brought latter online on sale. At a Huckberry pop-up store in NYC I brought stylish waterproof full-grain leather / waterproof suede all-weather duckboots. I went a half a size larger since I may be out on a trail all day and need more space for my feet to swell. After checking trail condition after a snowfall half a day on ruff terrain I made the right choice. While at that pop-up store there was a boot I wanted which they did not have but the sales person had me try on a chelsea made from the same last for I could order online the correct size. The online order was for a SeVees mariner boots in navy suede (waterproof sneaker boots) but in my standard size 11 W and the fit was spot on. Sneakers tend to more forgiving then leather boots. As for breaking shoes in I wore them in the house on a carpet or sitting at my computer desk with a towel on the floor where my feet are. Scratching the bottom of the leather soles of an Allen Edmonds make them unreturnable even if within the return policy time. I worn them one day on and then one day off to give the leather time to adjust. Over the days I had increase how long I wear them until I could be all day in them. I would suggest starting just one hour and see how things progress from there. The third time I had worn the derby I was so busy I did not realize it was over six hours latter. As for breaking in hiking boots and such (ie. work, rain, cowboy, etc) just wear them around the house. The return policies are not like AE and other leather sole shoes companies.

Antonio you should go ahead and patent that equation. You might even want to quantify "the how does it make you feel" part with a questionnaire that you fill every time you wear the shoes or after 10 wears or so
