the air suspension system is expensive, I know but you can buy a spring kit online. Had an a6 with airpads just in the rear, swapping to springs was quite expensive (~550 euros). but if youre planning to keep the car for many years then the swap will irradicate any headache youll have in the future with suspension other than regular wear and tear. everybody is so afraid of the air suspenion but its not actually that bad if everything works.

Removing the air suspension from this car is removing one of its greatest features. If an air shock goes just replace it

I have always wanted to get one of these but the air suspension is the reason why I would never get one.

Problems are grossly exagerated and only costly at the dealership which you should never go to outside warranty work. Dealer wants to replace everything, even if only a single 200$ bag needs replacing. Maintenance on the air compressor, when done, highly reduce risk of failure by keeping moisture in check. I have a 539 000km 2004 A8L (334 000miles) and It got one bag replaced under warranty in 2005 and the second in 2019.
