I purchased a cheap unbranded folding bike online over 10 years ago and that folding bike has been literally maintenance free over the years. It has only been in the bike shop once for a minor repair problem. It is the bike that I least care about but it is also the bike that has endured neglect and non caring treatment. It is definitely one tuff bike that I still ride occasionally today. An unbranded folding bike will usually be a steel frame bike and a steel frame bike can last for a many years whereas an branded bike is usually more expensive and will usually come with an aluminum frame and an aluminum frame bike lifespan is generally 10 years.

What is the name of the bike, and where you buy it? Name brand? I just picked up a used (hard-used) (Citizen Miami.) going to take it down to freme.. bead blast and paint it.

I found a folding bike for $150 but it has some rust on the brakes. Is that a deal breaker?
@PushCruiser Жыл бұрын
Hard to say without seeing it, but it might just be surface level rust from having seen rain every now and then. If the bike functions it very well may be worth it if it's a branded bike. If it's unbranded/unnamed I'd probably only do it if it looked unique enough to justify.

Dude, I imagine you figured out that you are tightening the frame folding link incorrectly, right? You need to put the silver disc part that gets tightened on the other side of the hinge (the left side according to the way you showed it in the video). I would imagine it is very loose the way you did it in the video, and probably a little scary! Just checking!

I have a cheap bike. And I also have one of the greatest folders ever made. The Tern Verge X20. If I want to get somewhere FAST. The X20 comes out. If I have a long journey 10 miles plus the X20 comes out. If I just want to run down to the shops. Or a short commute. I will jump on my budget folder. I paid £200 for my budget folder. And £1700 second hand for the X20. The difference is EFFICIENCY. Thats what you are paying the big money for. A bike that is faster and easier to ride than a cheap budget bike. The same reason nobody in their right mind would enter the tour de France on a £1,000 (26lb Trek FX3). When their competition are turning up with a £11,000 (16lb Cervelo). They won't stand a chance..

Indeed. The best tool available for the job; well said.
