Buying Used Beginner Kitesurfing Equipment: what I would buy today

last year at 17 thanks to your videos I learned to kitesurf independently and safely and now the tricks, I didn't go to kite school, I did it independently because I didn't have enough money, buying everything used. But I wouldn't recommend doing it without a school first, out of consideration for the safety of yourself and others! Thanks, keep it up

I spent 2600 swiss francs for all my gear, almost only second hand This includes a foil kite with costed me 1100.- and a full carbon foil for 250.- The rest of the money got me 3 kites 2 bars 3 harnesses 2 boards 1 pump 1 travel bag 1 wetsuit If I had bought everything new I would have spent probably 12k My tip is to be very patient and knowing what you’re looking for without being too specific, make a checklist for every item you want. Spend some time to get an idea of the prices benchmark, depending on the year and model (and repairs!).. then you can start soaring for the good deal. Set up search notifications on your local second hand website where there’s the most kite gear available. Of course as usual make sure your material is in good condition and change your line every 3-4 years like recommended (it’s expensive)

So I’m a complete noob and I got a core XR 12 haven’t flown it yet I’ve yet to take lessons i do have several 3m trainer kite that I’m very well with i just have to find time to take lessons before I try flying something I’m not that familiar with 😂

@@Fuzzy266 twin tip and two kites should be easy. I’d get a bag that is close to the size of the board so that it doesn’t sag too much in the middle. I like the mystic elevate light weight bags for versatility and for not pushing you over weight limits.

Buying used gear you should be at least a bit experienced to determine if gear is good or bad. Even if you test it upfront you need experience to know if it’s flying good. In my experience I can tell buying used gear is not always bad. Depending on country and market, you may find barely used gear (2-3years old) at reasonable prices. If you live at a kite spot going on a daily/weekly basis you should consider buying new gear and sell it after one year.

Yeah, it definitely helps if you have some basic knowledge. My experience is that here in the US there are some good shops that are really trust worthy that give accurate ratings to their used equipment, and beginners can trust them for a first purchase!!

@@erbartlett I got a cabrinha 2018 14 m + f one bandit 2009 7 m + rrd harness + Nobile board + 2019 slingshot hover glide foil set with a lift board . All the gear was in amazing condition, and a lot of fun to use 😁

@@robloxuser_notfound2148 thats quite the package. The fone is on the older end so maybe buy a backup bladder and nozzles in case something starts to leak. You probably eventually want something between the 14 and the 7m, as thats a pretty big jump> Glad you found a setup thats getting you out and having fun!

@@erbartlett I'm looking to get a 10 m kite . And the valves and bladder of the 7 m has been changed . Waiting for school to end in 3 more weeks . hopefully I can go to the beach and kitesurf 😁😁 if there is wind in Thailand 🤣

😂😂 if you are looking for used boards reading descriptions, there are no bad boards at all. All boards are jumping by themselves, going upwind as hell. All boards are perfect for beginners, no compromise! 😂😂

Yeah, its crazy, I really dont understand the marketing in the kitesurfing industry. It doesn't help the consumer understand what gear is good for them, it just makes everyone more confused.
