What do you think of Vision Pro?

I love it, I’ve tried it, and I pick mine up tomorrow. However, that review on the verge was one of the weirdest most negative positive confusing videos I’ve ever seen. But then again, Nilay is a very pessimistic person, and I think he didn’t really understand how to use the product. I think the focus was to be first. If you want to watch a good review, look at Brian Tong’s, or Marquez Brownlee’s (not the unboxing). I heard that they came off as fan boyish, but the truth is they’re knowledgeable so they show you practical uses of what the product is and they have a knowledge as to how to use the control center which clearly Nilay did not. Nilay had an extremely pessimistic view. And little to no accurate knowledge as to how to even use it properly. I was sad as well after watching his review, thinking Apple pulled a bait and switch. Here’s what I mean. - when you connect to a Mac, it’s only one screen, at one size. You can actually resize the screen. Yes, it’s only one screen but that’s for your Mac. Everything else you would wanna do you can have outside of the screen. So if you have apps on your Mac, that is not available on the Vision Pro, let’s say World of Warcraft, then you can open up Safari, your Messages app, your Calendar app, Keynote, etc. outside of that one monitor. - you’re alone and you can’t share your experience. IJustine shared her experience with her sister via SharePlay, which is exactly what I said to Nilay on his video. - Talks about how the passthrough doesn’t look too good in Poorly lit areas, then proceeded to show the entire video in poorly lit areas. - for some weird reason, his screen recordings were horrible. And Brian Tong, iJustine, and Marquez posted videos where it showed full resolution screen recordings. The 1st 45 seconds of Brian’s video blew all Nilay’s screen recordings out of the water. - he didn’t know what foveated rendering was because he’s new to the VR space even though he’s used VR for a long time. And what I mean by that statement is, I’ve used every quest because I’ve owned every quest. We are now using pancake lenses with foveated rendering, which eases the pressure on the processor for rendering what you’re looking at. So things outside of your view are going to be blurry as it gets closer to the edges. This is actually a feature. -personas. When I saw it, I came away from thinking it was amazing. I guess because I actually play video games and follow technology. In this world of fake everything I guess he expected it to be perfect. And totally forgot that these personas are light years better than everything that came before it. Sure, you can say it’s uncanny, but the truth is look at what avatars look like on the quest… literally cartoons. And with the pro, there’s a tracking, but that’s about it. - and of course he, as a person is a very negative person. So give him something he doesn’t understand, and you get the conclusion that he has which is “ you’re going to be isolated, and all alone with no way to interact with others”… Meanwhile he did a FaceTime call… but because of his lack of understanding, when it comes to SharePlay, he was alone, I guess. So his video was extremely depressing. But so are all his videos. I remember watching his video on the Apple Watch whether it was was coming out. It was extremely similar to this. There was nothing like it on the market yet it was the worst thing ever and the best thing ever. Then he worried about the social constructs of looking at your watch based on our society. Now no one cares. He’s a worry wart, and a contrarian. Both Marques Brownlee and Brian Tong spoke about the benefits and the negatives but in their videos and the world wasn’t going to end. They actually talked about what the product was and how to use it. I think you’ll be happy with your purchase.

You’re gonna be depressed if you listen to those people because they always look for the worst in things. For example, your iPhone, there are some people that walk around in public, looking down at their phone. There are some people that sit at the breakfast table, staring at their phone. There are some people that go to the bathroom with their phone. If you can visualize that stuff, rewind the clock, 40 years, and replace the word phone with newspaper. Now, fast forward five years from today and if everyone is walking around with AR glasses or mixed reality, headsets, the ideals haven’t changed. But yet the pessimist have always said the same thing they just replace newspaper with iPhone, and now iPhone with headsets or AR glasses.

@davidaltizer6 ай бұрын

@bujin54556 ай бұрын
I think people just fundamentally don't understand. Everyone keeps talking about this like, "it's not as good as a Mac," etc. Macs are not iPhone replacements, and iPhones are not Mac replacements. The real value of a spatial computer is not found in replicating experiences we already have. It's producing spatial experience we can't have without it. But some how you have to get from where you are to where you want to be. So Apple has provided a bunch of experiences that are kind of low hanging fruit, and as such, none of them are really "killer." Just like every other platform launch they've made. I'm not at all surprised by people's harshness, it's born out of improperly set expectations, lack of vision of the path forward, etc. Same sort of negativity was present for the iPhone launch, iPad launch, and Apple Watch, all of which people thought Apple had dropped the ball. All the same arguments were being made. Once two or three killer apps surface, all of these arguments will evaporate into thin air. It won't matter that it doesn't perfectly replicate reality, because it will allow you to do things that were previously impossible. You combine this sort of technology with AI, and amazing things are going to happen. Whether you want to be on the ground floor to watch the show as things develop, or whether you want to come in with the masses after the wild west has been tamed, is all up to you. I don't think Apple ever intended this product to be a mass market product for this generation, if they did, they would have made more than 60k of them for the launch.
@davidaltizer6 ай бұрын
they sold a reported 200,000 of them already which is pretty impressive, but i totally agree with what you’re saying which is why i ordered one in the first place. i will say, i feel apple mislead us with the marketing material as the video quality pass through looks way different in reality compared to what i saw in the ads
@rickhollm72676 ай бұрын
@@davidaltizer How do you know how good the passthrough is without actually seeing it. Most of the reviews I saw all said that the videos they show are not as good as what you actualy see the in VP. Apple never said that you can have multiple Mac windows open. What Apple did do is withhold important information that they could have provided so people could have made a better informed decision. Information we will not have until we get the VP in our hands. At least we can return the VP if we are not happy, though from what I have seen at his point, I don't anticipate returning mine. Your use case seems very specific, and you might be right in returning it since it will not do everything you wanted on day one.

Get the immersed visor it has 4 million more pixels than the Vision Pro and they look like glasses and they are $400 with a subscription or $950 without a subscription to their service and they also offer Apple+
@WhoKnowsZombie6 ай бұрын
Why do people like “real AR”? I never understood why people would want to see AR on glasses which means everything AR that you see will all be see through since it’s displayed on glasses. For me personally that’s way less immersive if it’s all see through. That’s why Apple Vision Pro intrigued me so much and why I spent almost all the money I have (well that’s how it felt) to get one because I love AR and for a very long time wanted to see and experience AR that isn’t see through and that’s more immersive. But yeah all I have to my name is $18,000 and I spent almost 5k on the Apple Vision Pro and invested the rest of it on take two stocks before gta 6 comes out. But my point is that’s how much I love the Apple Vision Pro. I seen all the reviews and I’m still just as hyped and excited. I’m a little bummed out that eye sight sucks and looks blurry but I mainly want the Apple Vision Pro for entertainment so like watching tv and movies and AR games as they slowly come out.

Yeah not the most amazing thing since sliced bread. It's in some ways more amazing than the Quest 3 and in some ways its the same or lesser. But you should probably get a quest 3 for $500 and wait for something much better than the AVP. Quest 3 can do productivity and it can harness PC computing wirelessly. It's pretty neat for $500 and the passthrough and resolution is pretty darn good, those pancake optics are nice and clear from edge to edge too. XR is cool, VR gaming is also cool, I personally love using it for PCVR. Also, having controllers for the Q3 is nice, you get both hand tracking or the use of controllers. We're not quite living in that future we all want but I think its fast approaching.
@gillianorley6 ай бұрын
The Vision Pro IS a computer. It has an M2 processor. Don’t use it as a screen for your Mac. Use the Vision Pro device and its M2 processor as your computer and, when doing so, you can open as many “screens”’of any size that you want. It’s not supposed to be a Mac accessory. It’s supposed to be a computer itself. That’s why they call it Spacial Computing and equipped it with a full-blown, Mac-class, M2 processor.

What's the point of it... It doesn't do anything that much better than the $500 Quest 3. You can use a computer with virtual desktop in quest 3 and make the screen massive. You can't even play games on the Vision Pro. It's just Apple knowing that the Fan boys will pay whatever for something with the Apple name on it. Like all other VR devices you will say wow at first but that will wear off very fast. Then you will just use it sometimes. Paying $3500 to use it sometimes is not worth it unless you have lots of money to waste.
