I absolutely love how this series is run by two cis lesbians, but they choose to actively seek out guests from more marginalized identities like bisexual and trans guests. I love how even though they are both cis, they make it a point to ask everyone's pronouns so as to normalize self-identification and not assume anyone's gender :)

CRosco1541 So what is gender? What are the differences between men and women? And how do genitals affect how men and women act? What about intersex people (people who were born with ambiguous genitals, reproductive organs, or chromosomes: for example, a person born with a vagina, internal testes instead of ovaries, and XY chromosomes. What gender would they be?) Also, do you think gender transcends culture? In other words, would people from different cultures see gender in the same way, or would there be differences? Like, how different is gender in the U.S. compared to Iraq, compared to Korea? Just trying to get an idea of how you view gender :) Defining terms is the most important part of having a productive discussion. If you would like, I'll answer my own questions to define my own terms too :)

Okay so "gender" does not necessarily go hand in hand with "gender roles" what one country expects out of a male may differ completely with another. In asking about intersex individuals I do not know a single thing about that, if you could inform me a little more on that I would be thankful. But I believe sex is biological and so is gender in my opinion. I hope to continue this discussion if you would have me.

honestly having a dog helps SO much. what 2 years of therapy couldn't do my puppy did in 5 months.

I hate to be the one to say it, but please do not purchase animals for the sake of 'therapy'. A lot of people impulse-buy cute little animals and use this self-care stuff as an excuse. If you look after pets CORRECTLY they are an enormous amount of work and are actually very stressful (if loveable). However, if you already have a pet, or have been thinking about getting a pet for a long time and are in the position to look after one, then they might just be the greatest friend you ever have.

you literally were *the one* to say it. i have had pets my whole life and i know better than to get them "as a present" or therapy. i adopted my dog because i saw someone posting on twitter about her needing a home or otherwise they would have to put her back in a shelter after being on the streets for no one knows how long, and i was able to give her one. the fact that she helped me with my depression and anxiety came after, and i *without me realizing*, because i felt the changes after 5 or 6 months of bringing her home. but it is a fact that dogs do help a lot. i know that your comment was with the best of intentions, so thanks anyway because you may help someone (next time try saying it in a nicer way maybe?) but i already knew everything i needed to know about having a pet and it's been great :)

For the longest time I thought I was straight, and then I met this one person who changed everything, and made me realise that I could be bisexual. My world came crashing down around me, and I was happy that I was beginning to understand myself more but completely and utterly terrified about how little I actually knew about myself all this time. I eventually came to the conclusion that it simply doesn't matter to me whether someone id male or female, I am simply either attracted to them or not, regardless of their gender (I could well be pansexual, but I have never had a crush on anyone who wasn't one of the binary genders as they are so few and far between where I live, so idk as of yet!) But then, just as I was beginning to understand it and accept it, the election result happened and I lost all confidence in my self discovery again. And that's with me living in the UK, I cannot even imagine how terrifying it would be if I was going through this living in the US right now... For anyone who feels the same as me, you're not alone, please remember that. There are so many other people like you and me out there who are confused and scared by their sexuality, and maybe we'll never really have a definite label to stick to ourselves, but that's okay. Stay safe, stay strong and most of all, stay true to who you truly are. Love is love, no matter what form it takes, and that is something beautiful that nobody can ever take away from you ❤️💛💚💙💜

Therapy can be so helpful especially if you are in the closet because you can come out to your therapist talk to them about the struggles you are going through because you are in the closet and the best part is they can’t tell anyone because of patient confidentiality
