He described him as "charismatic" which is code for "sociopath" and its her mother's fault for not teaching her not to trust "charismatic'" guys. And now she just repeats the twisted cycle that her mother has been repeating with her father. This cycle will never be broken unless she stops with this type of language and blaming. She needs to look at herself first and foremost, then the actual healing can begin.
@rosine74910 ай бұрын
Not all charismatic men are abusive and not all uncharismatic men are unabusive. Its not that simple, even if it is tempting to think 'I/she should have known'. About "it takes two to tango" well, abusers are lower on empathy and externalise all fault, while victims have more empathy for others than for themselves and internalise fault, which the abuser takes advantage of, or gradually breaks down the victim psychologically until they accept abuse. Abuse is one person crossing a line that most people never ever would against a person who trusts them. The law is clear and not at all debated, because to most people this is common sense.

3:45 She left some stuff out. At the Malibu party Taylor wanted to talk to Camille alone outside. Camille agreed but one of her friends wearing the yellow dress (who many think had a lesbian crush on her) kept escalating the situation by gaslighting Taylor and constantly preventing the two from having some privacy to talk. This triggered Taylor and when the other women heard the commotion they began to physically restrain Taylor even though she was the one being antagonized by Camille’s friend. Eventually Camille’s friend was shoo’d away but then came back again yelling hysterically and this pushed Taylor over the edge. The aggressive pointing was directed at that woman with Taylor saying “you have no idea what she’s done to me” because it really wasn’t her place to talk, that woman wasn’t a housewife or even a friend of the show, she was just some unsolicited drone trying to speak for Camille about a situation she had no idea about. Taylor’s mental breakdown could have been triggered by the combination of physical restraint while being gaslit by a complete stranger about a situation causing her a lot of pain.

It’s more than scary. It’s dangerous. A DV victim’s chances of being murdered go up substantially when they leave the relationship. That’s why an escape plan is so important, preferably with help. I wish there were organizations of huge, scary dudes who would show up at a house when a victim is about to leave and keep the abuser from harming or following. Then maybe the victims wouldn’t be forced to flee with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing and then living in fear.

Exactly! And it's like,where would you go? There's always eyes on you- his relatives,friends,etc,and so many of them are so willing to "snitch" without knowing the whole story
@henrymanzano2201 Жыл бұрын
@Evil Sharkey,yup. The most essential thing is to put distance between yourself and your abuser. Not just physical distance,but also "friends and family" distance. In other words,be careful who you communicate your intentions of leaving to,as well as where you're going. Try to have someone and someplace you can turn to that is completely unknown to your abuser and anyone he's connected with. Unfortunately,that often means your own family too. If possible,try relocating to a place you have little connection to- a place that's unexpected,and one where it would be hard for him to just pick up and go to for more than a day (if you can do another country,it's ideal in terms of safety,but there's a lot of logistics to consider- language and job prospects not being the least of them). Also,ALWAYS have your own money, unknown to your abuser,for expenses after leaving. It's a hell of a sacrifice,but you can't take chances on having your abuser searching for you,and worse, finding you.

2:21 She perfectly worded how hard it is to juggle your life while you're in an abusive relationship. You need to keep everyone at bay so they don't find out you're not ok while also making excuses for your abusers' sketchy behavior. I remember trying to reach out to friends about all the trauma I was facing while trying to hide the fact that my boyfriend was the one responsible. It's so draining...

I had no idea. I thought the lady in the meme was an actress from some drama. I completely related to what she was saying about being in an abusive marriage. I totally understand when she says “the life I had in the past seems like someone else’s life”. Today I am married to a wonderful man that I know would never do that to me, and I was able to find him when I decided to never underestimate the red flags people show you.
