l wish to comment on that vulgar triumphant sensational announcement of James Martin, the nature of which is in direct contrast to the life and teachings of the ascetic and disciplined founder of the noble order of jesuit’s, St.Ignatius of Loyola, a soldier of Christ.Surely something is very wrong with this man.

This Declaration by the Prefect of the Holy Office (it was issued in his name only and was not countersigned by the Pope, which would have been usual) is an effort by one man to destroy the Church. It is not Magisterial. A departure from the existing teaching of the Church of this magnitude would require the Pope to teach “ex cathedra” personally. Fernandez has already said that there are now two Theologies in the Church. The Theology of Tradition and the Theology of Francis. Since Francis is his puppet, effectively this means the Theology of Fernandez. Well, the African Bishops have opted for the Theology of Tradition. It could be argued that they have remained Catholic and that Fernandez (the de facto Pope) is no longer Catholic. Can the Catholic Church survive without a valid Pope? At one time, there was no Pope at all for three years. At another time, there were two Popes. In an effort to resolve the impasse, a third Pope was elected. The Church can exist even when no one actually knows which of several competing claimants is actually the Pope. So, Tradition teaches us that the Church can continue even when it officially has no Pope at all, or when there are competing claimants so that, effectively, there is no identifiable Pope. The Eastern Orthodox Churches have no Pope. The Church began in Asia Minor. The Roman Empire became Christian and moved there as well. The Christian Emperor in Constantinople was recognised, in the early Church, as the visible representative of Jesus Christ on earth. The Bishop of Rome was there to maintain correct doctrine, but never on his own authority alone - only following an Ecumenical Council called by the Emperor (not by the Pope, or the Patriarch of Constantinople). The Church had a system of checks and balances. In the early Church, if the Bishop of Rome had attempted to usurp the position of the Emperor, or of the Patriarchs, or of an Ecumenical Council, he would have been considered mad and deposed. Jesus gave authority to all of the Apostles. “He who hears you (plural) hears me”. The African Bishops are the valid and authentic successors to the Apostles. I identify them as such because they and their flocks have no money. Like the early Church. The European Bishops have vast sums of money. The German Bishops especially, because of the State 10% Church tax. The false Church is where the wealth is. The true Church is where the poor are. “Blessed are the poor - for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.”

but there are outstanding jesuit theologians such as Cardinal Avery Dulles who was visited by Pope Benedict before he died . we have fr. Mitch Pachwa, a prominent preacher , and there are other worthy Jesuits.Pity that the bad ones are a blot on the holy Order of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

Taylor Marshall has a very good analysis of the document (and Facebook wouldn't publish my defence of TM ..... ) I didn't come out of the muddle that is the Anglican church to find a worse muddle! I came into the Church in Germany! I had to ask about confession before the event, and got the answer that it might be a good idea ..... foggy theology rules, OK! And that was decades ago ..... He's a Jesuit like Elizabeth I thought they were, not like St Ignatius trained them to be (and St Ignatius himself had sown a few wild oats, so he wasn't in an ivory tower). Could we drop Welby and Francis on an uninhabited island (with suitable provision for sustenance).

there is no such thing as a theology of Francis. traditional theology was patiently and reverently built up by saints and scholars throughout the ages and is the only valid teaching of the holy Roman Church.

Cardinal Fernandez, of course, has stated a different position. There is the “Theology of Tradition” and the “Theology of Francis”. Almost all of the authority which he cites in FS consists not of references to the Sacred Scriptures or to Councils of the Church, or to the Tradition of the Church, but to earlier writings by Pope Francis himself. Cardinal Roche has said the same about the Tridentine form of the Mass. He asserts that this form of the Mass represents a “former Theology” of the Church which has now been replaced by a “new Theology” and the Tridentine form of the Mass must now be discontinued as representing the “wrong” Theology. Which, if you think about it, means that Cardinal Roche is saying that the Church imposed a “wrong” Theology of the Mass on the Faithful for over five hundred years. If that is really the case, how can anyone trust a Church which imposed a “wrong” Theology on them for so long a period of time? How can we be sure that the Church has now, finally, after two thousand years, finally hit upon the “right” Theology of the Mass? Of course, what Cardinal Roche says contradicts the Second Vatican Council. Paragraph 4 of the Introduction to Sacrosactum Concilium states, specifically, that all existing forms of the Liturgy are to be preserved, reverenced and respected. Pope Benedict XVI spent a great deal of time and effort convincing those supporting the Tridentine form of the Mass that it was identical in its Theology to the New Order of the Mass and that, therefore, he would authorised its continued use, where appropriate. Cardinal Roche is trying to undo all of this hard work. With the full blessing and approval of the Pope!

The fulfillment of this Dogma is here, as we are now living through the prophesied events in 2 Thes 2:1-12 and the mystery of the iniquity (2 Thes 2:7) -- that's why we have had two popes (one True -- Benedict XVI; and the other false, as seen in the vision of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich and prophesied by St. Francis of Assisi, non-canonically elected and destroyer), and great apostasy (2 Thes 2:3) in the Church. God never allows anything to happen before revealing them through his prophets (Amos 3:7) so that His faithful ones may be prepared for the events. With the passing of Benedict XVI (on 12/31/2022), the restrainer, Katechon, has been removed and, therefore, the antichrist will soon appear in public (2 Thes 2:7-8), who will be the head of the 1 world religion, followed by schism after the denial of real presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist by a false pope, banning of the daily Sacrifice of the Mass (Daniel 12:11), abomination of desolation (Matt 24:15), and fiercest persecutions of the Church (Rev 12:17, 13:10) for 3.5 years (Daniel 12:11-12, Rev 12:14). But God will protect His Church as promised in Matt 16:18, "the gates of Hell shall not prevail against Her" and His faithful remnants (Ps 91). What we have to face is this. The “Great Apostasy” is prophesied by Jesus himself and confirmed by the Catechism. It is to be found elsewhere in the Sacred Scriptures and in the third secret of Fatima. So, it is going to happen. Only after it has happened, Will Jesus return. If Cardinal Fernandez is elected as next Pope, we have the “man of sin” the “abomination of desolation set up where it should not be”. We can then raise our heads with joy - Jesus will return very soon, if that happens.

Just a question: IF, IF. a person with homosexual attraction is BORN that way, IF it is not a conscious DECISION on his/her part, what is the Church Teaching on how to deal with it--- how to 'satisfy' the attraction? Heterosexual people get married---- what should homosexual people do --- seems like a delimna. This is IF it is a conscious decision NOT a condition a person is born with---- like any other 'disability' or 'abnormality'? Thank you for the answer-----

Excellent question. I would say NOT all heterosexual people get Married and those that do have to then be continent. You see, the teaching is the same for all of us. Our sexuality is a gift to be used for procreation. If we misuse it we wind up getting hurt. The Church treats all of us the same and this is what Jesus teaches clearly in the Gospel.

People all have crosses to bear in order to become holy. Ss attraction is certainly a cross resulting from the fall of man. Some people are born with other weaknesses both of the flesh and other issues like addiction tendencies and such. We are called to resist those sins, pick up that cross and follow. God never promised happiness in this brief life. God wants eternity for us. That is what we must work for.

I suppose the dilemma for all of us is dissenter from what? I share your sentiments but can't ignore what is obviously problematic about this Pontificate (which will soon be over). I guess I would explain it as being a Catholic who takes responsibility for his faith rather than deferring it to the Vatican.

The doc is good in some ways but errs in allowing couples to be blessed as a unit. They should be prayed with but only blessed as individuals. It’s not enough to have that intention. Our actions should match our intentions. Extending one’s hand over a couple can’t help but give the impression that the relationship is being blessed, regardless of the priest’s intention to bless the persons only.
