Scientific knowledge base about LGBT - Q has changed whether Church approve/accept that new knowledge base or not. This kind of conflict happened long time back in the case of Earth being global or flat. Pope Francis is trying to accommodate the new knowledge.

Don't heed him he is no shepherd not a real pope but a mere usurper. He on the hand is a de facto head of the novus ordo vatican II conciliar church not of the true church founded by the Lord Jesus.

Is there a theology of suffering or is it just a fact to be accepted in a broken sinful world?
@marklambert5232
@marklambert5232 2 ай бұрын
The Catholic Church has a rich theology of suffering that goes beyond simply accepting it as a fact of a broken world. The Church's teachings present suffering as having profound spiritual meaning and purpose. Suffering is not just a meaningless reality, but can be transformed through faith in Christ. Have a look at this (no.2): www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/homilies/1995/documents/hf_jp-ii_hom_19950118_boroko.html and this (no. 26): www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/apost_letters/1984/documents/hf_jp-ii_apl_11021984_salvifici-doloris.html And all of this www.vatican.va/content/benedict-xvi/en/speeches/2008/june/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20080609_convegno-diocesi-rm.html The Church emphasizes that through faith, suffering can be imbued with hope and joy, as it becomes a means of drawing closer to God and revealing the true dignity of the human person. Suffering can educate and fortify one's hope, and make present the power of God's redeeming love. Rather than simply accepting suffering as an unfortunate fact, the Church's theology encourages the faithful to embrace it as a way to share in Christ's own sacrifice and cooperate in the work of salvation. Suffering, when united to Christ, becomes a source of spiritual fruitfulness and a powerful witness to the world. Hope that helps June, God bless!

The post-Vatican II theology is heretical and thus there has been no Pope since Pope Pius XII. They praise false religions and deny the necessity of the Catholic faith for salvation.

Pray for priest in Ireland that they may find their faith back. I living in Ireland and I am Catholic and see that even in my church some priest are becoming worldly. And indeed the old generation hold the church up. But no young people in the church. But we should not be discouraged. The church will revive. But we read in the book of Revelation that this would happen. Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.

Many are called but few are chosen. It was always about keeping the masses under control. The system has the internet now and so they don’t need church to keep control anymore . The Catholic Church in Ireland were in everything except the Crib since the 1800s. Always answering to the system. Always watching the masses and reporting back. Faith is a personal thing between you and God.

ST. POPE JOHN PAUL II: “Eternal damnation remains a possibility, but we are not granted, without special divine revelation, the knowledge of whether or which human beings are effectively involved in it. The thought of hell and even less the improper use of biblical images must not create anxiety or despair... The concept of hellfire, the fiery furnace and the unquenchable fire of Gehenna need to be interpreted as symbolic language... The risen Jesus has conquered Satan, giving us the Spirit of God who makes us cry, ‘Abba, Father!’ (Rm 8:15; Gal 5:6).”

POPE BENEDICT XVI: “People should not fear God, thinking he is always ready to punish, but rather they should love him because he is always ready to forgive. God is not a relentless sovereign who condemns the guilty, but a loving father whom we must love not out of fear of punishment, but because of his goodness. The Lord is a God who is just, but always ready to reveal himself as merciful and compassionate. God loves us in a way that we might call “obstinate” and enfolds us in his inexhaustible tenderness. The anger and mercy of the Lord alternate in a dramatic sequence, but love triumphs in the end, for God is love.”

I think Ireland will remain at heart spiritual but less adherent to formal religion as was the case . I think all for the better where it must be said in retrospect the omnipresence and influence of the RC in Ireland was stultifying . I live in England, and hope that rebel priest does not come to us. Unfortunately we do have a number of pro-alphabet stew Catholics here. Two years ago, I missed a chance to stand up and speak out against LGBT but to my shame I remained seated and silent. What the alphabet stew brigade demand is not tolerance, it is preference and privilege. I agree with tolerance, it does not imply approval, but get sickened to see the rainbow flag everywhere.

The Irish Church is "not coming apart" but is finally coming to grips with what God is doing in creating some 3 to 5% of humanity with a love and appreciation of same-sex love and same-sex unions. This has nothing to do with a Communist plot or with unfaithful priests. I have functioned as a Roman Catholic theologian in three RC seminaries for forty years and here is what I have come to understand: When it comes to trying to understand what the Bible has to say about sexual matters - or almost any other subject, for that matter - we must keep in mind that specific passages must be seen in light of broader concepts in order for us to make a judgment about whether what is being said should be taken as words for people in a particular situation 2,000 or more years ago (a situation that may no longer apply to us) or whether what is being said should in some way guide our behavior today. For instance, the practice of polygamy is simply assumed throughout much of the Hebrew Scriptures, or Old Testament. It is never expressly forbidden and, in fact, is even protected by Mosaic law (which you can verify by reading the 21st chapter of Deuteronomy). Should we, then, adopt the practice of polygamy because it was common in early Biblical times? Of course not. Cardinal Ratzinger, when he headed up the CDF, pushed through his anti-gay agenda, and ever since then it has poisoned the atmosphere within the RCC. At no point were the bishops or international Catholic scholars brought into the decision-making loop. One man decided his disordered fears of homosexuality were beyond examination and he arrogantly bypassed any consultation and collaboration outside his like-minded circle. Twenty years later, “faithful” bishops are abusing their power by ramrodding this defective teaching into the curriculum and into the minds of all teachers. This is a SHAMEFUL practice that has caused immense suffering and divisiveness. Surely this is not the Gospel of Jesus in action. . . . Finally, we have a pope who recognizes the homophobic roots of Ratzinger's doctrine of homosexuality. Being a prudent reformer, he realizes that he cannot reverse one abusive use of authority by another. Hence, in the way that Peter accounted for his baptizing Cornelius and his household (Acts 10-12), Pope Francis is slowly and progressively working to change minds and to change hearts. Cardinal John Henry Newman was able to say, "To live is to change. To grow perfect is to have changed often." Peter changed his mind (with God's help) saying, "God has made it clear to me that no one is automatically unclean." Pope Francis changed his mind. One of your former Presidents changed her mind. I changed my mind. Hundreds of Irish priests are in the process of changing their minds. Irish bishops are also on the move. I appreciate your daring hope in bringing in Fr. James Martin. I hope he will tell you of the agony of men and women who discover that they don't have the same sexual urges as 97% of their classmates. I hope he will tell you of gays and lesbians who have found faith and hope once they accepted their divinely ordained "situation" and, slowly and cautiously, steped into a loving and premanent union with someone of the same sex. These are "graced" encounters, to be sure. When the referendum was put forward some years back, the vote was heavily in favor of blessing these unions with civil protections. Someday soon, I expect to see these granced unions to be blessed and surrounded by sacramental protections as well. Wish to know more, go to <www.churchonfire.net/disorder-thoughts-on-homosexuality/> JMJ, pray with us, Dr. Aaron Milavec

You criticise Cardinal Ratzinger/Benedict XVi, one of the greatest theologians of the modern era. Congratulations to the faithful Bishops who are upholding the basic moral teaching of the Church, which is that homosexuality is an ABOMINATION. The LGBT+ brigade are a tiny minority, they shout very loud, but what they demand is not tolerance it is privilege. I hope the next Pope is an African and an ultra conservative and will reinstate the moral teaching. NO, NO. NO to LGBT+.

This is a strange and very ignorant comment. I can only assume you did not watch the video. I didn't imply he was not in full communion - I explain that the positions he espouses are in direct contradiction to Church teaching - the example I show is his promotion of Protestant eisegetes to promote a different Gospel. I am questioning why the Irish bishops want to consult with a notorious and controversial individual.

In the old days Ireland exported hundreds priests and nuns to the rest of the world. Most were holy people. However there were a lot of problems too. Strange how most of the paedophile priests in the rest of the world have Irish names. Irish nuns were also notoriously violent and sometimes engaged in sexual abuse in Catholic schools. The Irish appear to swing from one extreme to the other. Apart from their role in saving Christianity and spreading it to Britain and Europe in the Dark Ages, the Irish in recent centuries have had a huge influence on the way Catholicism operates in the rest of the world. It is sad to see what is happening in Ireland.
