There has long been a need for the kind of lay Catholic outreach you have offered, both to Catholics and non-Catholics. Catholicism has been misrepresented by half-truths and untruths, especially in an Anglophone context, and it's important to hear informed apologetics (apologia: to explain, not ask pardon) that challenge the more egregious and banal attacks on the faith.

This is one of the best catechetical discussions I have heard, applying it to real time situations. That is what we need the most and what is seriously missing from this papacy

Great show you three, is it just me that I am not a Theologian or really all the bright, but the good Lord leads me in a very simple way. I stay on my knees and frequent the Sacraments, the thought of leaving all of this has never been an option. We are so blessed to be Catholic. Thank you Jesus.

It is so relaxing to be an orthodox Christian. We don't have to worry about what the Roman Pontiff will do or say next to embarrass us all. Kyrie eleison IC XC NI KA

I’ve watched most of this video with great interest, but due to a tech glitch, am unable to see it out for now. It’s a great demonstration of meeting of Catholic minds and I’m very grateful for that. It does strike me, however, that there are a number of elephants in the room, which have been consistently there for the past 500 years or so. These need to be exposed and chased out before any real progress will be made in properly reforming the institutional church in our day. I refer of, course, to the fact there are two requirements to be a true Christian - apart from baptism into the Church - and these are, firstly that one professes faith in Jesus Christ and, secondly, that one accepts and follows the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Martin Luther and King Henry VIII wrote their own versions of the Gospel to suit their own needs and circumstances. Virtually all the thousands of Protestant sect which exist today derive from these two erroneous gospels. Hence, none of the numerous Protestant sects that exist today can call themselves Christian! Only Catholics can truly call themselves Christian. That is not to say all Catholics will be saved. Judging from the Gospel, many, or most will be damned! This is explicitly expressed in many parts of the Gospel by Jesus Himself. The Gospels proclaim that only those who ‘eat My body and drink My Blood’ can enter into My heavenly kingdom. No matter what the Anglicans might claim, only Catholics are eligible to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. It is accepted by the Church that Protestants can enter into Heaven, but only through the Catholic Church, but this is an issue for another day. Protestantism is a spiritual cancer that has been spreading for many centuries. It even predates Luther and Henry, but in small sects. It has now entered deeply into the (Catholic) institutional church and its errors are evident everywhere, especially since Vatican II and the promotion of the great error of ‘ecumenism’. The True Catholic Church cannot be subjected to the form of ‘compromise’ which such an enterprise requires, but successive pontiffs since VII seem determined to ignore, with unthinkable consequences for our institutional church which are evident everywhere. Time to go back at least 60 years and correct the errors which have accumulated ever since! I’d be very interested in your collective views on this difficult, but vital question. Thanks again and God bless to all readers

The italian name Giacomo is pronounced "Jackomo", with the stress on the first syllable. The "i" is silent, particularly when it follows consonants like "g", which is itself softened into a 'j" sound.

Russell Brand is the dictionary definition of controlled opposition. Just a few years ago he was a seething insane liberal and now we're all supposed to believe he has "come to his senses". Yeah, right. I'm a cradle Catholic and returned to the faith not because of the pope, but in spite of him, because of deep admiration and respect for the Traditional Latin Mass. If Russell Brand becomes Catholic because of the pope, Fiducia Supplicans, etc.....that tells you everything you need to know.

'I have a cunning plan'........recruit front line troops to wear a uniform each time they attend mass......The uniform could look similar to a protest vest with a message that reads Pope Francis, needs to GO!...Anyway, you get the drift....I enjoy the show and God speed!

You might want to do a whole episode on what happened in the Catholic school in Purley. Just tell that whole story. Gavin alluded to it in his introduction, so I looked up the whole story. It was frightening that a Catholic school would invite a guy who wrote a dirty gay grooming version of the Our Father. I suppose that guy and Fernandez would get along quite well. But I suspect the story would be of great interest.

Is there a theology of suffering or is it just a fact to be accepted in a broken sinful world?
@marklambert5232
@marklambert5232 3 ай бұрын
The Catholic Church has a rich theology of suffering that goes beyond simply accepting it as a fact of a broken world. The Church's teachings present suffering as having profound spiritual meaning and purpose. Suffering is not just a meaningless reality, but can be transformed through faith in Christ. Have a look at this (no.2): www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/homilies/1995/documents/hf_jp-ii_hom_19950118_boroko.html and this (no. 26): www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/apost_letters/1984/documents/hf_jp-ii_apl_11021984_salvifici-doloris.html And all of this www.vatican.va/content/benedict-xvi/en/speeches/2008/june/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20080609_convegno-diocesi-rm.html The Church emphasizes that through faith, suffering can be imbued with hope and joy, as it becomes a means of drawing closer to God and revealing the true dignity of the human person. Suffering can educate and fortify one's hope, and make present the power of God's redeeming love. Rather than simply accepting suffering as an unfortunate fact, the Church's theology encourages the faithful to embrace it as a way to share in Christ's own sacrifice and cooperate in the work of salvation. Suffering, when united to Christ, becomes a source of spiritual fruitfulness and a powerful witness to the world. Hope that helps June, God bless!
