How have I lived 64 years without ever hearing of this style of singing or more importantly of Anna-Marie Hefele? I am in sorrow for my past ignorance, but my day right now is brightened. Thank you. Truly.

This is like a superpower... I can only imagine what a chorus of polyphonic singers would sound like. Especially with a natively polyphonic piece, similar to the Messe de Notre Dame. Just amazing...

Try listening to Mongolian choirs, there it's very common to use overtones when throat singing.

The original song - very gentle and very dreamy - is by Brian Eno, on his 1977 album 'Before and After Science'. Giving credit where credit is due ;-)

"you talk to me as if through a distance, and I reply with impressions that come from another time..." I find the effect of throat singing so evocative of what's happening in this lyric.. two simultaneous tones, inextricably linked and yet produced differently and on their own paths. It's arresting, and brilliant, and I keep returning over the years to listen to this performance because of it.

*LYRICS* Here we are Stuck by this river You and I Underneath a sky that's ever falling down, down, down Ever falling down Through the day As if on an ocean Waiting here Always failing to remember why we came, came, came I wonder why we came You talk to me As if from a distance And I reply With impressions chosen from another time, time, time From another time.

amazing...i never heard this before. The Song is also very ice. Auf deutsch würde ich sagen: Das ist total krass und abgefahren. Ohne youtube hätte ich nie gehört, dass man zwei verschiedene Töne produzieren kann. Und die Instrumente harmonieren sehr schön miteinander. Sehr wertvoll. Danke. Ich werde mir es garantiert öfter anhören. Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland. Auch für Servus TV einen Daumen hoch.
