doubt that. the Chinese were never big on US auto industry or US manufacturing even when china only had crappy soviet style auto industry back in the 80s when china just opened its market. however, due to china-german military cooperation from the early 20th century up until the early period of WW2, china always had great impression in german engineering & german auto manufacturing. hence the very first major auto industry joint venture between china and a foregin company was volkswagen in the late 80s. since then china has been treating volkswagen very well. and chinese auto market became the single largest source of profits for volkswagen and many german auto component companies. in reciprocal, chinese auto industry has grew together with german auto companies including learning how to build a nice car....
