Hi Liv, I wouldn't say there is a better or worse way - just different way. I will see if I can work something into my video schedule for you 😊 Also, do you perhaps mean calot half hats? As I tend to think of Juliet caps as 1920s/30s bridal attire.

I bought mine on Amazon. It is cork inside, so that you can pin into it easily.

Thanks for such a helpful and comprehensive video tutorial. Wish I had known what you have taught before starting out on my current hat in progress which is somewhat turban like which I have been struggling with as I have been freestyle hand pleating bias strips on a pinnable poupee head and then doing invisible stitching here and there to hold it in place which is not as easy or as effective as your technique seems to be.

Hi Lynlee, your project sounds interesting! I think both techniques have merit - they will give different looking results. I've never tried a hand draped turban myself as I always get put off by the effort it seems to take. 😊

Thank you! Small hats are a great use for left over fabric! If you have enough you can even play with it and see if you prefer it on the straight grain or the bias 😊

Hello, I use silk dupion. Chinese silk dupion is more flowey, and indian silk dupion is stiffer. Any lightweight fabric will work.

Hi Ingrid, it depends on what you define as crinoline. I think here in the UK the terminology is different than in the USA. Crin in the UK is horse hair braid, now made using polyester - making it very different to blocking net indeed! It's used for making fancy trims for hats. I have read that in the USA "crinoline" sometimes refers to a bias cut stiffened cotton strip of fabric used to hem skirts. But I am afraid I don't know any more about that. I hope this helps! 😀
