Born to Babur and Maham Begum, Humayun was Babur’s eldest son. After Babur’s death in 1531 CE, Humayun claimed himself as the king of the Mughals and his 3 younger brothers did not support his decisions. Humayun soon realised that the state of the kingdom was in grave danger as Babur was very lavish with the kingdom’s treasures, hence, leaving an empire almost bankrupt. Humayun also had to deal with intense battles with neighbouring kings like Sher Shah Suri and Bahadur Shah, resulting in the Battles of Chausa and Kannauj.
