Great video as always! I complained to my Dad when the 1/2p went up to a 1p. He told me not to complain about it to him and suggested I write a letter to Margaret Thatcher instead, so I did! I got a reply from 10 Downing Street telling me that The Prime Minister thanks me for my letter. The sweets still remained 1p but I tried for all children my age.

Would todays kids really want to fight for this country though when it has done so little for them? Cost of living, property ownership a distant dream etc. High rents, low wages. Back in the world wars the government weren’t only in it for themselves

@ColinOBear9 ай бұрын
But who spoiled them (if indeed they are - I wouldn't want their shut-in lives)? It was their parents and their parents did the same and on and on. People died fighting fascism so that they're children and children's children could be free. Criticising them for living without fear and with confidence seems unfair but we all do it from time to time of course. Bad behaviour by some has always been with us but in the UK at least we're all lucky that most of us alive now have not had to go to war to defend the freedoms we have been lucky to take for granted. Sorry - didn't mean to go on there!! 😕

The pub Hart and Trumpet “opened around 1880 and closed in 2012. Many guests reported disturbances when they stayed over and referred to seeing a woman’s figure in the hallway A woman had been murdered there pre ww 2 I too remembered that beautiful poem too from schooldays❤
