BYU Basketball & Kevin Young's Next Trick Is Building European Talent Pipeline | BYU Cougars Podcast

The BYU Cougars are working on building out Kevin Young's first roster as BYU men's basketball program and based on their recent visits with former UCLA Bruins forward Berke Buyuktuncel and French center Maxim Logue, the BYU basketball program could be on their way to establishing a Euorpean talent pipeline to Brigham Young University (BYU).
Jake Hatch then talked about the BYU football program as some consternation was building amongst Cougar Nation over the weekend of Kalani Sitake's program over/under win total being set at 4.5 wins and Jake attempted to fill in the gaps as to why the number is so low for BYU as they enter their second season in the Big 12 Conference and look to improve.
Finally, the show wrapped up with notes on former BYU quarterback Ryder Burton landing with the West Virginia Mountaineers, BYU formally receiving a commitment from Faith Lutheran High School running back prospect Cale Breslin and a look at the BYU softball program missing out on the postseason for the third-straight season after making it 17 seasons in a row.

Jake, your take on BYU's QB's is a bit troubling... like it or not? Bohanon DOES have the Resume. And I ask this Question. Have you watched the interview with Coach Grimes where Grimes talks about Bohanon? Utah and Cam Rising are picked to win the Conference. How are Cam Rising and Gerry Bohanon's situation or past any different? Compare Rising to Bohanon with injuries and Conference Championships. Not a lot of a difference. I'm sure we'll have the usual Runn'in Puke Trolls chime in but the stats and facts are right here... I hope your undying support of ARod pans out. I'd love to be wrong about ARod. But he's had the tools and still hit dirt 2 season straight now.... If BYU goes 6-6? ARod needs to be DOWN THE ROAD. Kalani needs to then be on the Bubble.... Just a fact. If BYU goes 6-6? That probably means they only won 3 games in Conference. That is NOT ANY IMPROVEMENT from last year. Period. Frankly I agree with you that they will be 6-6. And THAT should point at the fact that MORE COACHING CHANGES should have been made before the coming season than were made....

4 wins is a highly likely outcome, 5 wins is possible, 6 wins is at a low possibility, maybe 20%. The performance of the defense not the qb that will determine the final outcome.

It was reported that Waterman was highly engaged in trying to get BYU players to stay and not go into the portal. If he leaves it could only be at the encouragement of Coach Young who thinks he could get a better player somewhere else. I hope Waterman stays. Steward is the player that should move on.

I don't know these guys, but when I hear of student athletes from places like Turkiye (Muslim), I automatically think that BYU's honor code relative to alcohol and sex is probably no issue . . . my Muslim friends tend to have higher standards than many Latter-day Saints.
