Dude. The steel on those is extremely well done. Can't wait to see that blade laser through the bamboo. I have no doubt whatsoever that you will not bend that blade. Gotta make sure and do a few forced bad cuts to show off the steels resilience. Also, If you get a chance, could you get me a weight and a P.O.B on the ubokubi version? The shinogi zukuri w/bohi model I have feels like an unokubi zukuri in hand already she's so light at 2lb 2oz with a P.O.B of 4 inches. I can imagine yours coming in around 1.75lbs maybe. Definitely no more than 2Lbs I would imagine. I can see a promising future for Byzer. RVA Katana is an excellent distributor and Byzer seems to listen to feedback and remedy any issues. Very much looking forward to watching both companies grow. If they play their cards right, they could become synonymous with the big name brands.
@samuraibyrd2 жыл бұрын
Not bad at all. Im working on a full review,but yeah your estimations are correct. I haven’t got accurate numbers yet. POB is a little less than 4 i think,and its a little less than 2 lbs. they need more zazz in the saya,but it’ll cut small bamboo,and it can be bent and pops right back,crazy!

Nice, I just tested their shinogi zukuri w/o bohi, couldn’t handle a 7/8 poplar dowel but did fine on tatami omote, these all have a multi purpose geometry so they won’t do well on more resistant targets
@samuraibyrd2 жыл бұрын
Yeah,its a light cutter,but very well balanced
@rvakatana2 жыл бұрын
Byzer/Cloudhammer is designing a new heavy cutter with more niku and a natural hamon based on your feedback. They tested the sample yesterday, and cut through dry bamboo (unsure of Thickness).

That looks sweet just got mine in today, gonna release an unboxing tomorrow, I really like the look of that, samewaga looks of pretty good quality, everything looks good this far, unokubi is key to this blade, is it through hardened? spring steel?
@samuraibyrd2 жыл бұрын
Yeah,it’s through hardened. John said it had a 57HRC ,and it does cut very small bamboo,but I wouldn’t recommend as a target,im gonna keep it light,lol. Damn thing weighs in at about a potato and 2 plums. Its lighter than a junebug on summer holiday,whatever the fuck THAT means,LMASSOFF

Seems like Byzer is coming on strong to the market. Are you going to be cutting any bamboo with it? Would love to see and hear your thoughts on it.
@samuraibyrd2 жыл бұрын
It barely handles small bamboo,its a very light cutter
@KF12 жыл бұрын
@@samuraibyrd Damn. Maybe it's too lightweight for you bamboo. One test I like to do is pop some gatorade tops. Pine-sol bottles are particularly brutal. Don't want you to hurt any sword but would be interesting to note
@samuraibyrd2 жыл бұрын
Yeah,bamboo is a step too tuff for her,but she is a master bottle popper!!! Tatami too,with no problem

@@samuraibyrd To meet American demand, Byzer just made a sample heavy cutter from sv105x steel. Cut through dried bamboo (forgot to ask how thick).
