I review what I feel to be one of the better hub and blower wheeler pullers on the HVAC market. I show how the C&D puller is set up and couple tricks for tightening it on the hub. I also show the failure my previous "Ultimate Puller by Sensible Products". Also included in the video is the Gear Wrench close quarter socket and screwdriver kit.

I see your earlier video Rick. Looks like it's gone now and most of your videos. That sucks what has happened. Your channel is one of the best put together videos I've seen. Can't leave out Chris lol. As you can see I got TRUCKER in my name I've been driving for 13 year and in 2017 I went to school to learn hvac/r and every day I'm on KZbin looking for content. Videos help me become a better tech and keep a my eyes open and look at the big picture. Not just fix the problem. I'm going to miss your videos. Right now I drive for 4 days and 2 days I work in HVAC I'm trying to ease my way into a this career. There's always something to record hopefully something comes up. Well good luck Rick.

Thanks for the review. I don't own any pulley. I sure needed one few months back. I had to bust out the torches, wd44 and sand paper. Was looking at the aluminum one , but I'm going to try that new one you have.

You will need one for the hubs and one for the traditional pulleys. That's the one thing the ultimate has on the C&D but I really like the alignment with the C&D. No thinking, just tighten and get it off there. Thanks for watching Rondeny!

The posi is the one I wanted but I didn't want to spend $200 plus for it. And they make so many different sizes. I would like one of the larger pullers for the big pulleys. Thanks for watching John!

pulley puller ftw, as long as it hooks under the "meat" of the hub and not the thin blade spreader area (grind the puller) or don't bother and just cut the junk shaft off slush with the hub via grinder or carbide tooth sawzall blade, then knock it out with hammer/punch/block/pliers. yeah I think of ways to work less non stop. I love all the old "Murphy's law" quotes and would rather spend 15 minutes thinking of an easier/alternate way vs the same 15 minutes cussing current tools ;) sadly most of what I do is off the wall oddball one time use items or twice in 5 to 15+ years oh well. the aluminum tool seems fine for lightweight carry in bag, as are many others, but I'd rather carry 5x the weight of tools overall in a few trip, vs. making 20 trips

Rookie, Thanks for watching! Its a little pricey but when you look at C&D's website, they sell all the little parts separately, so if you ever need something replaced, you don't get screwed into buying a whole tool or crap you don't need.

I was about to purchase another ultimate puller until I seen one of the guys on KZbin mention that this is an ongoing problem. Then I started looking at the metal ones that are 30 bucks range and they look like alignment would be an issue. But as I said that puller was good to me for at least 15 years but I didn't use it very often. Overall I've only had the chance to use it once, but I really like the way it fit on and aligned. Thanks for commenting and checking out the video!

Good review, ive been looking for a good puller. I’ll check that out more. How long did it take until those set screws bent? I was contemplating getting that one but maybe I won’t if that happens after minimal use.

I had it since it came out, maybe 15 years ago, but I don't think I have used it more than 50 times over that period. And I oiled the shafts when I pulled the blades. Thanks for commenting and watching Jacob!

What size gear pulley do you recommend getting for and all round hvac tech?
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival 5 жыл бұрын
There's a difference between a gear puller and a hub puller. I like this one for hubs, second pick would be the ultimate that I showed. For a gear puller I like the craftsman one I showed, I have the Gearwrench version listed on the Amazon link under in my tool kits link called "most common need tools" go under this main video and look at the notes section there's a link for it.
@apr9286
@apr9286 5 жыл бұрын
On your tool list the Gearwrench pulley is 7 ton, on your video the craftsman part# is a 5 ton. Which should i get? I know it has to do alot on amount of work area and applications. But for you being in the trade for so long which size i should invest in thank you for your time.
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival 5 жыл бұрын
@@apr9286 I do not use it that often. Just recently have I used it maybe a couple times for the whole year. I would go with the 7-ton. Honestly I don't remember if the Craftsman was a 5 or 7 Ton. The thing to you consider is how much reach do you want the arms to have. What size pulleys are you going to be pulling? Base it off of that. I don't recommend using those on fan blades because you will bend the base sometimes. That's why I use a hub puller for that and squirrel cages. The only time I use that Craftsman puller is when I'm working with pulleys that's the only time.
