I have now binge watched all of the episodes on this truck...making me realize how much block sanding I'm in for...I still gotta fit up my rear suspension components & rear disc brakes & weld in a couple brackets on the frame for my fuel filter & fuel pump, then I can take it all back apart & paint it all, then reassemble & I'll be at rolling chassis...it'll be good just to be there...paint & body is what I'm most looking forward to, but I still got a long way to go before I get there...I can't believe I watched every minute of that sanding! Lol!

Just think. That was the heavily edited version. Much more blocking than what you see, lol.

Jim, You are one of the few that follows best practices as for application of a filler, tight coat. Pressing it into the pores of the metal & irregularities from a weld. But many buy a PPS 2.0 cup, talk about spraying at a 90 degree angle to get an even mil thickness, then still angle the gun on edges. At least you are getting even and holding the gun square with the surface. It's not the critical on a primer but still it builds muscle memory for getting color & clear on evenly. I listen, learn and watch because I am self taught. So I pay attention and give you a congratulations!

Keep up the good work. I'm still working on my sqare body. It's taking me months to strip, weld repair and get into epoxy primer. It's amazing the amount of work that goes into quality paint work.

Yes it is. It’s worth it in the end. I just wish it didn’t take so long to get there, lol.

a few months back you had recommended to me, to see if lmc truck had longer rad hold downs, for the 86 chev c10. I could not find any other than stock . so I ordered stock ones and using the originals , I cut and welded longer hold downs. Have to say thanks because you helped me to come up with a solution. The truck is now fully restored and painted.

Quick question, while blocking I broke through the primer in several places should I take the time to mask the areas where I broke through and epoxy coat the bare metal? I really appreciate all the videos you make they’ve help me out a lot with my C-10 build.. Gracias
@StoutCustom
@StoutCustom 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. You need epoxy on the bare steel for adhesion. You can apply one coat of epoxy over the bare metal followed by high build urethane after the epoxy flashes or just us a high build direct to metal primer like Vibrance VP2050. Thanks for watching!

How would you go about taking a bow out of a door? i have a 68 door that has a slight bow in the lower portion where the molding goes..
@StoutCustom
@StoutCustom 2 жыл бұрын
I would really have to see what’s going on. Sometimes the metal gets stretched out if it had a molding and the molding was pulled off rather than the adhesive cut. It’s hard to get it to go back in without some heavy body and filler work. You might can get a 2x4 that’s a foot or so long and try placing the flat side against the door and tapping the 2x4 with a hammer. It will most likely cause dents and need filler work to get it straight though. Something a bit softer might work better or wrap something soft around the block of wood. It’s kind of trial and error. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Does kitty hair spread a little better if you thin it with resin?
@StoutCustom

I think it would get brittle and possibly crack easy so I wouldn’t recommend it.

Nice work, you make it look easy which it is not. I was wondering what the Red Tool was The brand I do not have compressed air to do bodywork was it a Six Inch Orbital DA Sander if so what is the brand?
@StoutCustom
@StoutCustom 3 жыл бұрын
It was a Zota random orbital 21mm throw polisher. Supposed to be used for buffing/polishing but makes a great aggressive sander for stripping off paint n such. They are making electric sanders now like the traditional dmDA everyone is used to. They are expensive though. Thanks for watching!

@@johnboyman2806 10-4. You should invite all your friends over for a “stripper” party then when they get there hand them some sandpaper and tell them you meant “stripping” party…
