C2 PAST UNVEILED! | Code Geass Newlyweds Reaction | Ep 11, “Stage 11: Battle for Narita”

After Kallen decimates the strategy of Cornelia, the remaining forces are picked off one by one by Zero and Kallen, until Suzaku steps in to fight. This leads to C2 having to step in to help Lelouch, giving Suzaku NIGHTMARES and accidentally revealing her past to Lelouch! With all of the lore doors opened this episode, we can't WAIT to see what happens next!

Yes! So many people don’t pick up on that. Lelouch realized he was treating C.C. like an experiment when he heard her very human name. C.C. up until now has been doing a good job of acting aloof, but Lelouch finally saw the humanity in her and decided to treat her as such.

I mean if I remember correctly her name is supposed to be one of Britannian nobility. Since all the nobility are more or less related to some extent, a blood test would be worthless. Especially since she's at least multiple centuries old, if not over a millennium. Plus, of course, as the one above me said, it's a moment of empathy on Lelouch's part, recognizing her as a human instead of some immortal inhuman being.

An interesting deconstruction in Code Geass is Suzaku and Lelouch. Suzaku is very much the traditional mecha hero; he's amazingly skilled in a fight, uncompromising on his morals, and fights to save people. Lelouch is very much the traditional mecha villain; he's a strategist rather than a combatant, he treats other people as disposable pawns, and he's fond of manipulation and traps. Yet this is a series that at least on the surface presents Lelouch as the hero and Suzaku as the villain.

Suzaku is not a villain. I think the term you're looking for and the one that best defines him is antagonist (technically Suzaku is the deuteragonist, but he can serve as an antagonist) and yes, not many antagonists tend to be that heroic. I agree that this is an interesting deconstruction.

Technically, Lelouch doesn't know about CC's past. He only saw some images from her past and he doesn't understand what they mean. What he does know is her name because she whispered it in her dream. About that... Fun fact: CC did have a name in the early stages of Code Geass' creation: Cera. Even Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch's voice actor) said her name (maybe "Cera") when he recorded his lines for this episode, but Sunrise decided to cut it in editing. They excused themselves by saying that her name is one of her secrets (they want to keep her in the role of mystery girl). Therefore, the name of C.C. is unknown.

The way the Britannians and military treat Suzaku is incredibly ironic considering he keeps rescuing operations and is one of the reasons they aren't constantly losing against Zero. Part of it is the Lancelot, but most if it is the fact that Suzaku is just a genuinely incredible pilot. And the general public isn't even aware that the pilot of the famous Lancelot is an Eleven, they just assume that he's a Britannian, which works fine for the government and serves as propaganda.

I would describe it less as ironic than as karmic, since it was clearly the writers' intention to lampshade that dichotomy. From Cornelia being shocked that Suzaku was gonna succeed back at the hotel, to her trying to make him execute Tohdoh, it's all meant to show both that Brittanians are evil to the point of stupidity and that Suzaku is naive and self-righteous to the point of stupidity. To be fair, Suzaku is absolutely the best pilot currently in the series by a wide margin. I would rank Kallen a decent amount lower than him at this time, with Cornelia, Gilford, and Todoh coming up below her, then Jerimiah and the Purebloods below him. Lelouch is quite a bit below them. Not going to lose to a nameless grunt, but never going to beat any elite pilots.

Personally, I would define Tohdoh as a Rook. A powerful piece but lacks the maneuverability of a bishop or the queen. The piece I'd consider a bishop isn't introduced until season 2.

In Gundam it's called a Newtype moment where 2 characters have kind of a astral projection heart to heart in a trippy psychedelic space which leads characters to understanding one another. I don't think Suzaku's logic is completely wrong, but definitely flawed. He wants to change Britannia from the inside. It's similar to Major Miles in Full Metal Alchemist, who joined the Amestrian military in order to enact change from the inside. Suzaku just seems more foolish in his quest because unlike FMAB, where most Ishvalans are already dead, the Japanese are still alive and often ordered to be executed by the Britannian miliary, which Suzaku willingly decided to join. He's like "hey I'll save my people! ...by joining the people who are killing my people..."

And a difference here is that Amestris was too rotten to be changed from the jump due to what the country actually is, and Armstrong had no idea. Meanwhile, Suzaku _could_ change Britannia from the inside; Charles is an irredeemable monster, but Euphie, Cornelia, and our "second prince" all demonstrate less prejudice than he does in varying ways. It's not likely to work, but it's not completely busted. And then there's the reasons why he's so keen on using the system, which we're just beginning to get to.

Jeremiah was called "Orange" because of the first time Zero confronted him. Lelouch said "you don't want people to learn of Orange, do you?", then Lelouch Geassed him into helping them escape with Suzaku. It has nothing to do with eye color.

One thing that is interesting to note here is Lelouch was treating C.C. like she wasn’t human at first in the cave. He was documenting her injuries and wanted to test her blood. However once he heard her name, I think he realized he was treating her like an experiment, and you see he throws a way the hankerchief with the blood sample. You can see how surprised C.C. was when Lelouch called her a good friend. This episode very much humanized C.C. both for Lelouch and the audience. It’s why at the end Lelouch basically says the C.C. that even though she can’t remember who she is, he still thinks she is beautiful.

This episode shows what is anime is giving us - brilliant battles, interesting characters, great tension, unpredictable plot twists and myesterious aura about something in the background which is affecting psychollogically who's involved. Also this episode is extremely important in relationship betwen Lelouch and C2. The scene with her name is showing us who C2 is - a hurted girl who wants to be loved. C2 is the key character to understand ending of this show. When you'll reach that final episode I'm gonna put a comment how I interprete the ending and I can't wait for that. :) This episode also gives us another foreshadowing: Suzaku's past about his father, his relationship with Euphemia and about Orange Boy Jeremiah Gottwald. Both of that characters will have incredible development and also very interesting interaction. Just wait for season 2. For now I and I think most of other viewers can't wait to see your reaction to episode 22, oh yeah there'll be amazing reaction of both of you. :) For now we'll enjoy watching next episodes which are also incredibly interesting. It's also amazing watching this show with you now, when you're married. This show is about love beside many other topics. As i mentioned earlier Love is the key to understand this show and C2 character. When i figured that out, this anime has became my number 1 in history. I feel like even by Code Geass standards, a lot happened in this episode. Todoh and company joins the battle. And for the first time, he shows why he is a miracle maker. Kallen battles Cornelia. Really showcasing where they both are in the tiers. Suzaku and Euphy share a moment. And Suzaku is still seen as lesser even at this point. Will he ever be acknowledged for his abilities? Kallen battles Suzaku and it's really too close to call. I think Suzaku would win in the end, but it wouldn't be easy. We learn a little about both Suzaku and C2. We even get glimpses of her past. And while some have said that she wasn't a part of the story originally, I have to admire how consistent her back story is. Nothing she said here ever gets contradicted. Lelouch learns C2's real name and Kallen meets C2 for the first time. Good thing she hasn't seen C2 on school grounds... Also note that while Lelouch was originally going to run tests on samples from C2, he disposed of the bloody rag before Kallen picked them up. And an Orange got picked up by some random scientists. And he was never seen again. So poor Orange, aka Jerimiah, is a skilled pilot. You can tell he did about as well as one could be expected in his battle with Kallen last episode. Considering he knew nothing of her mech's capabilities and her combat skills, he did better than anyone else, save for Cornelia and Suzaku. Both of whom I would rank slightly higher than him in combat. Beating Jerimiah is a feat that gets recognized in the future. Even if he was disgraced, he was still acknowledged as a skilled fighter. Also, Lelouch is only barely above average in combat. He's not losing to some nameless mook, but literally anyone with a name seems to beat him. Things are going so well. It sure would be a shame if something threw a wrench in the works. Like an unexpected death. Or random unknown Geass user showing up to battle it out with Lelouch. That sure would be rough.

Suzaku doesn't have the perfect philosophy but people miss the fact that it's the philosophy of a war traumatized child soldier whose trying to avoid conflict death and chaos. Because of their experiences and hoping to work on changing the system slowly from within and avoid doing it through massive war casualties. So give him a rest for not having the perfect ideology especially considering the fact that his philosophy and ideology change and develop throughout the show. He is absolutely a great character if you don't just closed mindedly look at what he thinks and ignore why he thinks like that. Since when did we start needing characters in media to have perfect morals and judgment in order for us to appreciate admire or find them compelling? You should absolutely be able to enjoy characters that don't think like you

I agree with you. It's the best defense you can present for this point in the series without spoiling. Suzaku is a totally underrated gem of a character and it frustrates me that viewers don't make an effort to understand why he acts the way he does and believes what he believes (and in fact most already hate him without actually doing anything bad, just because he opposes Lelouch; that's his sin). They just judge what they see without showing empathy (personally, I consider myself an empathetic person thanks to the works of fiction that allow me to do this exercise with each character). I have to say, I was a little disappointed in Kenny and Montana in this episode.

Which leads to an interesting Hypothetical situation, what if the Lancelot for whatever reason (Purist Sabotage, Assigned elsewhere, The avalanche causing issues for the Lancelot) The Lancelot wasn't available for use. Spoilers below! It’s funny that Montana brought up that quote “To be loved is to be known”, in response to the snow metaphor given C.C.‘s true wish of being loved(what her Geass was). And honestly I think it’s very true in the case of C.C. and Lelouch. They both end up understanding each other better than anyone else in their lives. C.C. shows her hand a little in regards to that in this episode when she asks Lelouch to say her real name with tenderness and like he treasures it in his heart. She still wants her wish deep down.

Code Geass has its really wholesome moments. the way Lelouch treats and communicated with his female companions is really wholesome and shows he isn't an egomaniac even though he acts like it so sometimes the cause of his character Zero. Spoiler alert: CC used Lelouch to further her own goals and went rogue with him until episode 21 of R2. She knew that his mother was alive all this time and she didn't tell him anything. She knew that his father had a Geass and what he was up to with the Ragnarok Connection and she didn't tell him anything. She knew that she was going to condemn Lelouch to an immortal life for which she suffered and she was going to do it if it weren't for Charles showing up. She knew that V.V. had taken Nunnally to attract Lelouch and her and capture her and so C.C. kissed Lelouch, to preserve his memories and deliver him in her place, knowing that Charles could alter his memories (it was confirmed in the secondary material and the team that worked on Code Geass said they expressed it through images: when CC kisses Lelouch a second time to restore her memories, you see the first kiss she gave him). She did not support Lelouch in his most difficult moments (in R2). She abandoned Lelouch without offering him an explanation by erasing her memories. And she acted as a double spy for almost the entire series. Kallen and Shirley were Lelouch's only real love interests (they did know and accept Lelouch's true identity and to ignore that is to admit not paying attention to their story arcs). The official supplementary material confirmed that Lelouch never saw CC as a mother or a lover (said that way verbatim to contrast with Mao's character). And C.C. said that she didn't know that she felt for Lelouch.

Well her name is Shiroyi yuki which in english would mean Snow White. Thats why they kept saying those random sentences involving snow.

This is just my wild assumption but I think C2's real name is something like Snow White translated in Japanese because she was talking about Snow is White because it forgot what color it is supposed to be which is same with how she forgot. Her memories

Suzaku is literally one of the worst characters in the history of anime. Spoiler: The reason the japanese cannot accept their defeat is because Suzaku killed his own father which caused the japanese leadership an military to crumble. Basically taking the peoples right to fight for themselves. He choose the side of the oppressor and a system that could not be saved from within. He is absolutely self righteous, he denies others their revenge, but deems himself the right to have his own.
