C4 Corvette Side Marker/Cornering Lamp Replacement in Under 15 Minutes

Today we're going to be working on the 1996 Corvette LT4 Aqua car and change out the cracked cornering/side marker assembly.
Watch as I detail the components that need to be taken out of the way to get to the mounting bolts and show the process of removing and reinstalling the lamp assembly.

As for the cloudy factor of the lens, that's pretty easy to fix. I did mine on my work bench, held gently in place with the vice. Use polishing compound and a power buffer wheel in a criss-cross pattern to bring back the shine and clear up the lens. This works on newer cars as well, on headlights and tail lights that get foggy. Saves buying expensive new ones. It also works on glass, like windshields that get water spotted and streaked after years. From the looks of your cars, you take pride in them. I'm rescuing/restoring my '92... 30 years and 200,000 miles of wear, weather, a small engine fire and neglect. I'm on the big Island of Hawaii, so I didn't have much selection. I haven't driven it yet and it still needs to be painted.

Mother's wheel polish works great too even though it's not a permanent fix but that shit will polish plastic just as well as most metals,jewelry, ceramic just about anything that needs to be shiny.

That is my favorite light in the whole car, they work great at night, I don't know why more cars don't have them.

From memory, the side markers were always an upscale kind of thing normally reserved for Rolls, Lincoln, and Cadillac. It does surprise people when they see them for the first time light up a corner as you go around it.

It's a shame car makers no longer make cars with the cornering lights that was a great feature used on vehicles through out the 80's and 90's.

The cornering lamp buld should be an 1156, but double check me on that when you go by the auto parts store👍.

Definitely not as difficult to get to as some cars. My ‘99 Chrysler 300M has the battery behind the passenger side front wheel. Down low, so hard to get to!

3:47 I have led arrays for those, quite useful lights and now they won’t discharge the battery anymore if you find bulbs with load resistors you need to unsolder them just make sure they are load resistors and not led protection resistors
