Thanks for the vid. I just upgraded my C6Z with GT2 coil overs, torque tube plate upgrade, with mp4S, a cf drive shaft, intake, axle back, and what sounds like the same powerstop rotors and carbon pads. I can’t wait to do a few shake down laps like this.

I aspire to own one of these soon . Nice to see what it can do on track with a regular driver. Also, wouldn't have guessed downsizing would help

Per my research and minimal experience, end of session tire psi of around 33-34 is suppose to be the sweet spot.
@GridForgeMFG3 жыл бұрын
Yeah right around there seems to be a good spot generally. I find the PS4S starts to fall off in grip after 33psi so I like to run them a little lower. Could just be my alignment though! Will be doing a deep dive into alignments and how they effect track cars soon.

Nice pov and cluster view setup! One question thou, which oil weight did you use? I have a c6z. Tsp stage 2 head/cam/intake package, Mine seems to have the similar oil pressure as yours, 40 psi till redline. Idle pressure is only 16 psi after a 20 mins session I use liquimoly 0w40, probably not a good choice for track use. Will switch to 10w40 next year

Just got first set of PS4s. Glad to see pressure info. Are running stock springs/shocks? Also, what radio head unit is that? Looks good…. Really enjoyed the video.
@GridForgeMFG3 жыл бұрын
You’re gonna love the PS4S! I cannot find enough good things to say about the tire, bravo to all the engineers who developed it. Some of my newer videos talk a lot about the tire I’m now on, the Pilot Sport Cup 2. Check those out if you’re looking for even more grip in the future! I am currently on fully stock suspension. Although I am putting on DRM Valved Bilstein dampers this winter. I’m looking for slightly more motorsport-type feeling on track, which those should help with. I will be making a very in depth video talking about those in the spring. Will also be doing a track alignment. The head unit is the “Boss BV850ACP Package “ from Crutchfield. I got the one with the backup camera, wiring harness, wiring interface, and dash kit. All in it was $322.95. Very easy install, takes about 1-2 hours the first time around. For the price it’s hard to beat, and now I have Apple CarPlay just like the girlfriends 2021 Jetta! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! -Mike

@Motiv Engineering I love it! Ya I've heard some have gone in the 280s....hopefully no more than 260. Just got some decent pads. I'm probably only gonna drive it at 60% the first few sessions too, so that should help.

I'm running Motul 660 in my C6 Grand Sport with Hawk HP+ pads and I didn't have any brake fade, albeit I wasn't pushing as hard as you being my first time out in years and a new car with new tires.

Yeah I was running DOT4, but will do a big brake bleed before my next track time next month. I will try out the 660!

Your oil pressure seem a bit low at those rpm’s.. also, at 255 f oil temp, your oil really thinning out. Suggest running a thicker oil
@GridForgeMFG3 жыл бұрын
Noted. I will look into that this spring. Thank you!
@DontStopReeling3 жыл бұрын
@@GridForgeMFG sbe ls7 cant run anything other then what they were rated for which is like 5w30 mobil1 , the bearings wont last if you go heavy. I run redline 5w30 in my CI c6 z06. Old oil will thin out as well. Also if you want that SBE to last I suggest 2-3k oil changes.
@natez06902 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure that Katech recommends Mobil 1 15W-50. Also, GSpeed in Cresson, TX recommended I run a heavier oil than 5W-30 in the Texas heat! Your oil pressure looked low to me too. My C6Z oil temps get to 250 f in the summer but I blend 0W-40 with 15w-50 and it runs good. Suggest getting HPTuners Track addict app with the MPVI2+ and data log oil pressure. “Mordeth” said this on the Corvette Forum: “Address the oiling system. If the car is an 8 qt car then you should add the Lingenfelter expanded tank which adds 3 quarts. While doing that you should add the AVIAID tank baffle. And once your oil pan gasket starts to leak (and it will), then add the Improved Racing pan baffle when you replace the gasket. Eventually, you will get fast enough to need a larger oil cooler and the Improved Racing cooler with thermostat is the ticket. Also add a Mighty Mouse catch can.”

@@GridForgeMFG also what muffler mod you talking about?
@GridForgeMFG3 жыл бұрын
@@rickymcu it’s a common mod that C6 owners can do to their mufflers. It entails opening up the muffler and covering up the perforations on the “loud” side (as relating to the valved exhaust system). This makes the car louder while in “loud mode” while keeping the quiet mode unchanged. I filmed the whole process, just haven’t gotten around to putting the video together. I can work on that this weekend if you think it’s something you’d like to see! -Mike from Motiv
