Thanks, mate! Yeah, the map is huge, and often you think you're on the right path, only to realize you should have taken a different turn. For the video, it was a bit easier for me since I could scout out the ideal path to the next item thanks to the savestates before recording each segment. But even without savestates, the game should be doable since there are plenty of hearts to refill energy and visited areas with items are color-coded after visiting. However, it's still not easy. Also, the way back up to collect the last pieces, needing a weapon upgrade of 600 points to blast through the walls, should also be taken into account.

How did you find not being able to use the gun when climbing ladders and the spawning of enemies right on top of you?

Yes, one of the few things that could be criticized is that you can't shoot on the ladders. Shooting in the 8 directions works similarly to the game "Steel Ranger", but in that game, you could also shoot on the ladders.
