In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view on the Vitória-Minas Railway, the second part of the journey (out of four) between Baixo Guandu and Governador Valadares in the Brazilian Federal States Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais in 4K/60 frames per second.
The Vitória-Minas Railway (Estrada de Ferro Vitória a Minas; EFVM) is a metre gauge railway line linking the cities of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais and Vitória, Espírito Santo, in Brazil. It is a 905 km line with a minimum curve radius of 195 metres and a maximum ramp of 1.5%, which allows a maximum speed of 67 kilometres per hour. The first stretch of the railway was inaugurated in 1904 with the initial aim of transporting passengers by rail and transporting the coffee production of the Rio Doce Valley and Espírito Santo. However, its focus changed in 1908 transporting the iron ore to the port complexes of Espírito Santo. In 1991, the railway reached the capital of Minas Gerais.
The train crosses a region with a significant amount of mountains and rivers and typical vegetation alternating between Atlantic Forest and Cerrado, with a large part of its length on the banks of the Doce River, until it reaches the beaches of Espírito Santo.
Together with the Carajás Railway (Pará-Maranhão) in the Northeast of Brasil, it is one of the last railways to carry out passenger transport over long distances, maintaining a total of 30 boarding and disembarking points served along the 664 kilometres covered by the passenger train. A train departs daily from Cariacica, in the metropolitan region of Vitória, Espírito Santo, bound for Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais and in oposite direction. All together it is a 13h 30 min journey. Both lines are operated by Vale Company which has an extensive logistics network to quickly integrate mines, railroad, ships and ports present on approximately 2000 kilometer of railroad network in Brazil.

Assisti o vídeo de Governador Valadares a Aimorés e agora a viagem inversa de Baixo Guandu a Governador Valadares, só para ver o trem de passageiros parar na estação de Resplendor, a minha cidade natal. Nasci lá, mas, morei em outro município mineiro, Contagem, até a idade de oito anos. Depois, cresci em outra cidade fora do estado de Minas, onde estou até hoje, Ji-Paraná-RO (Rondônia). Então, imagine a saudade de ver o trem partindo e chegando de Valadares (onde moraram meus pais e familiares) e Resplendor (onde nasci) é um poço de saudosismo e boas recordações. Abraços aos milhares de inscritos e ao produtor de conteúdo deste canal. 😅

I remembered that in Brazil the passenger lines are disappearing, that the railways are now an old memory, and the few lines that still exist are a bit dated and old. It's a shame that given the large urban density on the coasts the bus lines are very slow and the railways would be useful. I saw that Sao Paulo has its own suburban network of electric trains. Cities like Belo Horizonte have Metro (Rapid Transit), while others are building it. Looking at this beautiful line, I saw freight trains with 250 wagons, I discovered cities like Governador Valadares and Colatina, as well as the beautiful landscape of the Doce River, among lush green forests and uncontaminated landscapes. Minas Gerais, a federal state of Brazil that I knew by name, is beautiful. I'm pleased with this Carioca drift, rightly a Slovenian of Brazilian origin couldn't help but mention videos about Brazil. And there are videos! It is clear from the quantity of goods and minerals that cities like Belo Horizonte grew up with quartz mines, as much as Governador Valadares, or Uberlandia. We look forward to the other two remaining parts of the line. Really nice videos, well prepared and equally well described! Obrigado por este lindo vídeo!

My personal opinion is that Brazil needs more railways, as it is a very good and efficient mean of transport, especially with the population density like in Brazil. At the moment there are some plans for improvement of the railways and I do sincerely hope that it will happen. Soon you will be able to see the Belo Horizonte Metro too.

Olá, ótimo vídeo, impossível não assistir até o final e ainda teve dois momentos que merecem destaque, primeiro que o maquinista participou de uma corrida imaginaria sem saber que era uma corrida imaginaria com o motoqueiro que resolveu acelerar no momento em que começou a ser ultrapassado pelo trem, e mais adiante um boi sendo atropelado, assisti a parte um e acabei de assistir a parte dois, logo mais assistirei a parte 3, forte abraço.

Thanks for this video showing the second part of this nice Brazilian cab ride. Varied landscapes, one.notable. Beautiful sunny day, increasingly cloudless. Brazil is a gigantic state, therefore its artificial lakes are. Their trains transporting mineral too. It gives the impression, when the train crosses one, that is stopped. I could be wrong, but a good mararhon.runner would surpass them. Also thank you for all infos mentionned.

Very interesting trip! ! In the "Governador Valadares" station, the train stops even though there is no passenger platform on its track: it must be complicated to get on and off the train...

@markotxe True, I am not sure why it stops on the track without the platform. The train is quite high....it sure must be difficult to get on/off

@@RailRelaxationwell they'd say that if you want to alight in one of these stations you have to walk inside the train to the last one or two carriages. Not many passengers would use these stations. And I can imagine that there is no free seating - so if you book a ticket to one of these towns they assign you a seat in one of the cars stopping at the platform. More pragmatic than in Europe.

Um vídeo muito bonito só não gostei da velocidade muito pouca pela a distância que percorrer tinnha que ser pelo menos 100 km por hora a 60 é por isso que a viagem dura una eternidade mais vídeo é espetacular, estas locomotivas as andam a mais de 100 km por hora 👍👍

A vale deveria testar novas Velocidades pro trem de passageiros pegar uma locomotiva e um vagao de passsageiros antigos romeiros e testar novas velocidades exemplo efvm aguenta tranquilo 70km/h sem risco de descarrilamentos seria velocidade ideal se vale aumentar em vez de 67/68km/h pra 70km/h e claro se passar nos testes ai sim trem andaria mais rapido

As it looks there is no defined direction in the Brazilian railroads. Trains switch from left to right track-so there is no double track railroad but two single track ones parallel - which could be used independently - such as in the Czech Republic, Slowakia or Austria. The motivation there is to allow a faster passenger train to pass a slow freight train without stopping - which makes sense. But here both modes go incredibly slow - not even 70km/h. Why having this mode of track layout undet these circumstances?

As You can see there are no "stations" like in Europe (every 20-30 kilometers), there are only changovers where trains can move from one track to another. There are many reasons - from stations needing to be veeeery long (trains are 2,5km compared to European max of 750m) and there are no different classes of trains (intercity or local passenger trains and then freight) so they need to overtake or pass each other. So basically trains don't move from station to station (as in Europe) but from section to section (between crossovers). Also there is not really a mesh/star network but just a line end-to-end (from mines to ports) so trains pretty much move in two directions end-to-end.

Ich weiß es nicht, könnte mir aber folgendes vorstellen: Da die Personenwaggons deutlich länger sind als die Güterwaggons, besteht in engen Kurven die Gefahr, dass sie ins Lichtraumprofil des Gegengleises ragen. Deshalb werden die Güterzüge an geeigneter Stelle angehalten, um den Personenzug passieren zu lassen.
