Hi Caner, this was an interesting discussion you had with Kit Darby. He sure had a wealth of information from all of the years he flew as a pilot and also worked with training and certifying pilots as well. Must say that Mr. Darby is very sharp for being 76 years old. They say that when you love what you do it makes your career much more enjoyable and encourages you to work into retirement age. Must say the 3 photos behind you of the old Manual Typewriters from the yearly 1900's were something you don't encounter often.

The bidding systems used to be there. Pre 2016 . Then all the airlines went the utilisation way , so they scrapped lifestyle options for pilots .

Noted! but first, I need to find an expert about this field. Also, I need to study the market on my own before I record a vlog. Sometimes, it takes too long to find someone and convince for the video shooting!

This has to be one of the most informative aviation video! Its similar to the Masters lectures that I am taking in my college. I had a question: If you start your Pilot career in the US at 23 years of age, will you still be able to enjoy the full experience of being a Pilot till 65 years or will the career be affected by increased automation (single pilot cockpit) or urban air mobility such as UAV or Drones that will replace jobs for pilots who fly short haul. I believe long haul flying will definitely be untouched for the foreseeable future except for the ones who want to pay huge amount of money to fly supersonic.

Hello, thanks for the great comment! I believe you will be good for a life. Your career won't be affected from automation and single pilot operations.

Hi Caner hope you are well. How can you become a pilot in the US? By any chance did you get the green card lottery and was able to be hired in the US? Thanks
@CanerAcarbay Жыл бұрын
That's correct. I already had green card before I apply for the jobs.

Thnx again this is great video. Especially for who is trying to creat their pilot carrier. As a turkish and a new graduated pilot, my first task is finding job as a pilot but in my opinion it is really important what i am gonna do as second move. most airline in turkey pay good enough to live well but it is getting less every year againts inflation. Still it is not the main problem in the future, it is work load. İt doesnt matter how long they are working, they work near the upper limits. İn this case it doesnt matter how much money u make if u cannot spend it. Also After couple years fatique gonna be problem as well, and ur life quality ganna get down. So that it sounds better to go seniorty based company asap, isnt it? What u thnk about that? İs it too early to thnk this now?

If I were you, I would focus the things once at a time. You are absolutely right with your statements. Nevertheless, Turkiye is still great place for baby pilots. There is not many country in the world that offer fresh pilot such a great opportunity and jet flying. As a pilot, you can improve yourself in Turkish Companies. That being sad, this system, to me, is not sustainable. Flying in Turkish Companies involves heavy fatigue!

If only the US airlines sponsored overseas candidates. There’s plenty of international pilots who’d take the opportunity. The green card is the obstacle…. the National Interest Waiver scheme provides a small chance but from what I hear it’s more of a money pit from which immigration lawyers make a good living as opposed to providing a realistic chance of entry.

I thinks your analysis is correct. Here is the million dollar question: Is it worth to try Eb2-NIW or not?

This guy was paid by my union (ALPA) to provide a talk on how to get another job in 1991 when my airline (Pan Am) shut down. Unfortunately, nothing of what he said helped. So, I have known about him for a long time. But after 36 years and 13 airlines, including four majors, I retired as a very junior Captain with United. Unless you are a lucky person, I would not wish this career on anyone. You need to understand, pilots as a group would stab you in the back and destroy your life just to get your seniority number. Trust me, I know. And that includes the union - ALPA. They are actually the worst. If I told you what they did to me, and most of my friends, you would not believe it. Now may be a good time in the industry, but if you think that will last, you are fooling yourself. The day I got hired by a major airline in 1979 (NAL) I thought I was set for life - wrong. Within one month I had my first furlough - the first of so many I lost count. All I can say is don't give up your day job... And every time you get a new job you have to start all over on the bottom. www.youtube.com/@CockpitScenes/videos
