The movie in this video is “Johnny Got His Gun” fantastic movie. Check it out if you haven’t seen it. Basically they are convinced he’s brain dead and experiment on him. But he isn’t and can’t communicate. Powerful film and matches the song perfectly
@chad_holbrook3 жыл бұрын
Prior to the movie there is a book of the same name by Dalton Trumbo. I've heard contradicting information: the song is based on the book or the song was written and then they found out about the book. There is a scene when the military officer says to the doctor, "he is a product of your profession, not mine". It is the medical professionals keeping him alive.

I have the book. It's called Johnny Got His Gun, and it was written by Dalton Trumbo. It is still in print, so you can still buy it. The book is about a WW1 soldier who loses his arms, legs face in a mortar explosion. He survives, but must be kept in an iron lung for the rest of his life. He cannot walk, talk, touch, see, hear or smell. He is perfectly conscious though and still of sound mind. The book first takes the reader into Johnny's mind and thoughts as he struggles to make sense of the incomprehensible darkness he finds himself in. The doctors believe he is brain dead, but he's not. Eventually, Johnny remembers how his father taught him Morse code. He uses Morse code to tap out a simple message by banging the back of his head against his pillow. S-O-S (which means help). A nurse spots him and after a moment recognizes what she is seeing. She responds to his silent cry by tapping a response on his chest with her hand. This is how Johnny and his nurse begin to communicate. Eventually, Johnny is able to communicate a message through his nurse to the general who had come to visit him. He asks the general to take him to Washington DC where he wants to then force all the politicians, the public and the media to look upon him and see for themselves what war does to people. But the general says no, and then leaves him alone in the dark with his nurse to never be heard from again.

It shows me that you were invested in the song and that the reaction you are giving was genuine. You are truly learning about the history of rock and metal simply by paying attention. So many times we see people just headbang through a song while staring into their camera instead of what's on their screen just to get a click and they could care less about what they are really reacting to (bandwagoners). I watched a few videos of yours tonight and you guys have earned a new sub. In the movie, his only source of information was from the sunlight hitting his face, allowing him to keep track of the days. In one scene, the nurse traces the words "Merry Christmas" on his chest, and then he could tell WHAT day it was. When she tries to kill him and the doctor stops her, he bans her from seeing him anymore and locks him away in the dark for the rest of his life. He didn't want to admit that the Army doctors messed up.

I spent over 10 hrs on the slab and what most dont realize is the table you really get operated on is a hard plastic slab not the bed you shift to. Ontop of my problems with with my intestines my backs totally shot so those 10hrs on a hard plastic slab played mary hell on it so that by the time I got out of the OR I had the pain of not only having most of my large intestine taken out my back was totally shot and seizing. The pain from my stomach causing my back to tense up and the pain from my back causing my adbomin to seize up. Both feeding the pain that wouldnt stop. I spent 24hrs screaming until I couldnt scream anymore and my voice gave out and I just wanted to die. I still relive that day and night in my dreams and in waking flashbacks. Medical trama causing my ptsd.
