Cadillac Door Won’t Open multifunction switch replacement Cadillac CTS

In this video I repair a issue where our passenger door would no longer open from the outside, the cause of this problem was a faulty multifunction switch in the door handle of our 2008 Cadillac CTS with passive locks. I have the same problem(driver door) but for some strange reason it would open perfectly when it rains but im going to try to change the door switch hope it work

I have the same issue but with my driver door. I changed out the micro switches and made sure the fuses still good in the back and it is. When I pull the handle, there’s not even a sound indicating that the lock is trying to do anything. Please help

Sounds like it might be a wiring issue to the switch and not the switch it’s self. Do you have a multimeter?

I have a 2009 cts and the driver door only opens some time but u can hear the switch sound wen u pull the handle but door won’t open is that still that same issue?

Sounds like it is the door handles have allot of issues I think when you pull the handle on the driver side it unlocks the other doors and that’s why it makes the sound still

How do you get the door open in the first place? Mine wont open at all to get the panel off.

Ours opened from the inside handle still you would prob need to remove the handle on the interior panel and locate the wire that connect the handle to the lock and pull it with pliers

When the multi function switch fails it still opens fine with the inside door handle just not from outside

Sadly not the electronic locks all go through that sensor

@@biddy98gst thanks for the fast response! I have the same car and seems like the same problem. Just confused on what part to buy.. my unlock button works on all doors but my driver's side, I can't open driver side unless I open from inside.. best guess on part I need? Thank you

No Cadillac only sells the switch with the door handle it’s self. I didn’t want to replace my entire door handle and have to repaint it

They now sell just the harness, just not from the dealership. Dorman has them, and you can find them online. They are called "outer door handle harness" and LH and RH are different

They call it a multifunction switch I’m not sure if you can buy them without the actual full handle that’s why I pulled one from the junk yard. There are 2 kinds 1 with remote start and one without remote start
