Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh racing at Monza Circuit: Accelerations, Downshifts & V8 Sound!

Obviously the Cadillac V-Series.R has been among the cars I wanted to record the most in 2023. Even if it was quite sci-fi but I really hoped to see it doing some private test in Monza until the end, in order to better record its V8 sound. As you can see I had to settle for the chaotic 6 Hours race weekend from which I couldn't bring home many of the classic, long and pure sound scenes you're used to.
The Cadillac has been developed under the "Le Mans Daytona h" (LMDh) regulations which allows it to be fielded alongside Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) entries in the Hypercar class of the FIA WEC or in the GTP class of the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Compared to Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) rule set, in which there's much more freedom in designing the car, LMDh teams are forced to rely on one of the 4 chassis manufacturers chosen by ACO and IMSA (Dallara, Ligier, Multimatic and Oreca) in order to have a base from which to build their own vehicle. Cadillac continued their partnership with Dallara, taking most of the experience from their previous DPi-V.R into the new project.
The V-Series.R is powered by a Cadillac LMC55R 5.5-litre DOHC V8 linked to a 7-speed sequential gearbox and to the mandatory 50kW hybrid system.

@335isI've been fully aware of that, but Imsa DPi never ran in Lemans until LMDH was accepted by WEC. Also GM never ran the top prototype division in Lemans for about ~19 years..

I’ve seen them at Laguna Seca this year and let me tell you, you can feel them in your chest. These are by far the best sounding cars of all time on the IMSA grid, up there with the C7R corvette

Great Video Bozzy! This car has become my favourite car out of the Hypercar bunch! Whilst I'll always adore the pug for its jaw dropping looks, the Caddi's sonorous V8 is just something I was dying to hear at Le Mans (and was not disappointed! :p) cant wait to see even more of your videos showing off the new golden era of Prototype racing!

The Corvette Daytona Prototype did actually exist, but they weren't WEC-spec cars. Glad to see GM learned from them and told Cadillac to step up

I liked them less when IMSA allowed them to increase downforce to compete with the LMP2 cars. They sounded more like Nascars than Corvette GT3 cars, which is what I prefer. I also prefer the look of the WEC prototypes.

They initially were set up to run directly against LMP2 cars in a bid to get them allowed at Le Mans, but when that fell through they cut them loose and they fucking _flew_ for a couple years. The Cadillac DPi was by far the most successful, mostly via sheer bulletproof reliability, and the LMDh car is sort of the successor to that car.
