You remind me a lot of my uncle. He was an old school Mechanic he just found a way to make things work. These videos you make help, help a lot of people, that says a lot about your character. Thank you partner!

Nice! Well done James! You should do a vid on what the phaser's do and exactly how they work. Bet your viewers would appreciate it and find it very interesting.

Your torque wrench is pretty decent when it makes your mouth go Click at the correct torque. Top job!

Shouldn't you have cleaned up the old phaser gasket first before putting the snap ring in? Did you make a new adhesive gasket? Amazing job getting the snap ring in. Pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to do that. This is by far your best video yet. The camera angles, focus, editing, procedures, and showing every step including confirmation waveform is outstanding. Please use this as a template for all of your future videos. This video is absolutely perfect. If you do all your future videos in this same exact way you will acquire a huge following. Bravo.

Don't you just love those junk yard dogs. Sounds like some of the engines i've gotten before, they say yea we got one that will fit and then you find out you have to swap everything but the block to make it work. Good job JD, thanks. Does anyone ever call you JD?
@jamesdanner78509 жыл бұрын
thanks. I've heard JD a few times

this engine the shipping slip said Washington... an eBay deal.. can u imagine returning that? I think the most nervous I was, was on that VW 2l turbo with the broken chain I showed real quick on a video. I had everything swapped including a new timing belt kit before I saw the turbo housing was cracked and Turbo was seized. was thanking the Lord that one purred on start-up

Grammys car is gone. we had a replacement in the works when I did that video. it started pushing that crud into the overflow tube and clogged the elbow in the cap and actually over pressurized the system bad enough to crack the radiator. 3 separate times. (glued it). then the fan cycled erratically a few weeks later..never got another C0 hit tho. I think that stuff insulated the sensor. prob gummed up the tstat. I think she got to 149500 miles. maybe 3k ? before summer creeped in and all that started showing up. my next short video is gonna be the eulogy, to put it to rest

I think the reason why you saw the increased duty cycle on the actuator was because the computer didn't like what it saw on the position sensor and therefore kept keeping the actuator on longer. Too bad you didn't have time to look at the actuator current and duty cycle at the same time. You would have seen the increase in current and you could compare that to the known good one.
@jamesdanner78509 жыл бұрын
yea. ur probably right. it just looked funny with that rhythmic rapid pulse

A dead battery in a cadillac can be caused by the obsolete analog onstar module in the trunk near the power antenna. Disconnect it!! It wakes up every few minutes and searches for an analog cellular signal that does not exist anymore. It can malfunction, and stay on at full power draining the battery very quickly

Hmm. Interesting. I never knew GM made RWD/AWD versions of the Northstar. I had only seen FWD versions. I know there was the CTS V and SLR, but those were LS engines. Never seen a RWS Northstar. Learn something new everyday.
